Phone Call: MARTIN STATED THAT IN HER NEIGHBOR'S BACKYARD THERE IS A PIPE COVERING OF SOME TYPE (SHE WAS THINKING MANHOLE). THE GROUND IS STARTING TO ERODE AROUND THE OPENING. THE HOLE IS FORMING BETWEEN HER CHAIN LINK FENCE AND THE OPENING. THE FENCE POST IS STARTING TO SINK. MARTIN FEELS THAT THIS AREA IS A SINKHOLE. PLEASE CALL BEFORE COMING OUT.

Called Nancy Martin at work and received permission to inspect the site. Locate a hole along the fence between this address and 399 N. Sheffield. Will investigate more and inform her of my findings. Inspected site with Mary Ellen Murphy from the Planning Department. Had Bobby Chestnut, from the Street Department, inspect site. Had Mike Hicks, from the Utilities Department, inspect site. It was determined that the hole is located on the north rim of a sink hole that was filled in pre-1975 and the storm manhole located near by is not on the city's inventory and must have been installed by the developer with out the knowledge of City.Refered to the Geology Deparment at Indiana University.
