At 15th and Walnut, just west of Walnut, the curb is painted to allow parking. Often there are three cars parked there. When a car is parked as close to Walnut as legally possible according to the yellow curb, it is impossible to come east on 15th and get back over to the stop sign behind the stop line. This means the rear end of one's car is sticking into the westbound lane of 15th, or else the front is sticking into Walnut. If the yellow curb were extended westward from the intersection to leave room for just two cars to park, it would be simple to get over to the stop line and not be in the way of westbound traffic on 15th. Thank you.

I understand the Council is voting on Ordinance 17-23 to amend Title 15 of the Municipal Code in regard to bicycles. Unfortunately, I am not able to attend any public comment session at the meeting. As such, I thought I would provide my comments via email as suggested by the city's website. I think this Ordinance provides the Council an opportunity to examine bicycle restrictions on certain roads in Bloomington during certain hours of the day when traffic is high. For example, I have encountered numerous occasions where bicyclists hold up the flow of traffic on Rhorer Road while heading eastbound and going up a hill near a private road entrance. I have noticed that drivers appear to become impatient and honk at the cyclists, and others pass the cyclists when they should not. I think the proceeding eastbound traffic also has no idea that traffic is being held up and it comes as a surprise when driving over the hill, because the westbound cars are often left of center to avoid the cyclists. Another example is on Sare Road. Bicyclists will often ride in large packs up or down Sare Road which halts traffic. I have seen these groups be as large as 15 or 20. Indiana Code § 9-21-8-2 requires drivers proceeding at less than normal speeds of traffic to get as close to the right-hand curb as practicable to enable safe passing. These large groups of bicyclists seem to either disregard Section 9-21-8-2 or are too large a group for motorists to safely pass. As proponents of the two-abreast laws will note, it takes longer to pass a long line of bicyclists than it does a compact group. In short, I think reasonable temporal and geographical restrictions on certain roads for bicyclists would ensure their safety as well as the safety of other drivers and pedestrians. I would respectfully request the Council take that into consideration while it considers passage of Ordinance 17-23.

8:24am jul 15. At walnut & smith. I was eastbound on bike, waiting at red light to cross walnut. A white pickup truck was across from me, westbound, no turn signal, blocking the ped xing while he waited to cross walnut. He went about twenty seconds beforr the light turned green, running the red. His plate was a blue municipal plate, 63998.

You have a crosswalk with a planter. The huge sidewalk you are putting in has made the road too narrow. You should make the crosswalk planter small so the road is not too narrow. Will the new, much narrower road meet the width requirements? Seems like this is just going to create accidents and the city is being negligent.

I was walking with my three children under 10 and my dog this Sunday, November 29th and was crossing Arden and High and an individual driving far over the speed limit acknowledged but blew right through the stop sign heading north on high. This is a repeated pattern and puts my children who live at 1800 S. Oxford Pl. highly at risk as they use that cross walk to get to school and southeast park. Don’t know the solution but someone is going to get hurt.

A pedestrian just died from a vehicle strike at Park Ridge and 3rd. Please don't let the residential street of Morningside be next, treated by many cars similarly to 3rd. Writing to remind that though there may be less walking and biking in the winter months that it still happens and is more dangerous as often darker and with cars less vigilant. Please move forward with traffic calming as soon as possible for Park Ridge East. Thank you for your attention. I look forward to the day when our kids can bike and play as we could when we were younger. We may not be able to play street hockey like we used to in the street but hoping we can at least learn to ride our bikes on it.
