Last year, the section of the sidewalk at Washington and Cottage Grove was replaced, but the workers left a trench in the road that collects water and breeds mosquitos. I couldn't help but notice when similar work was done this summer on 10th street and a layer of pavement was laid alongside the sidewalk to fill the trench there. Probably just an oversight but it'd be nice to get this job completed.
My street does not have a proper street sign. Since it is a small culdisac branching off a main road with several residences. It seems like this could be an issue for ambulance/emergency workers who need to find our area. The street is West Cascade Ave. off of Gourley Pike.
There is a 2 by 1 foot pothole that was intentionally dug in the alley that runs behind the property.So the pothole is between the property and the Hutton Honors College. Don't know if the city or party that dug it was looking for pipes or what, but the hole has been there for almost two weeks unfilled. There are 6 parking spots all in a row behind the property. The pothole is dug in such a way that it is directly behind a parking spot making the spot unusable. Also, when the pothole was initially dug there was already a car in the parking spot. The pothole was dug directly behind the tires of the car making it impossible to avoid when the car backed out. May want to instruct crews or whichever party was responsible not to do that. The pavement on Park, just south of the intersection with Wilson, is crumbling. There are several areas with no pavement at all, just gravel.
(Not really "street repair" but I couldn't find the right category): The eastbound Stop sign on Maxwell @ Highland, in Elm Heights, is OFTEN ignored. I have seen cars race right through it without even the pretense of slowing down. On foot, I have jumped out behind the car as it sped on, waving my hands and shouting "STOP SIGN!!", and once a driver waved an acknowledgment. Another time, driving north on Highland, I turned and followed the offender, honking and blinking my lights hoping s/he would notice that someone had noticed and be alert next time. The Stop sign is quite visible, not obscured by overhanging trees, so I am stumped. But I wonder if it could be moved closer to the road, enlarged, painted (the post too) a more neon/catchy red, and/or moved to the CENTER of the intersection (tricky for the snowplows, I know), and/or a "Stop-sign alert" sign added well before, or maybe it could be removed altogether with appropriate alerts posted for the north/south drivers, which might be safer than assuming people will stop. This is a potentially lethal situation for drivers, bikers, and walkers in a very pedestrian-heavy neighborhood. Thanks.
Can you please look at the drainage on High Street in this area? The street is always covered in water with medium to heavy rains. It doesn't appear that there are enough drains on this area of the street. This has been a problem for years.
The pavement from this intersection going south and ultimate out to 3rd street has enormous potholes and misalignment of the pavement surrounding the in street storm drains. I don't know how much of this is private or public but it nearly took out the undercarriage of my car and I was only going 15 miles an hour.
