There is a downed power inside the north entrance to Cascades. Looks like a tree fell and took the line down. The tree has been removed but the line has been down on the ground for at least a week. I assume the electricity is off but it is not safe just to leave it down on the ground. If the power was accidentally turned back on people's lives could be endangered.
Hi Park & Recs team! I wanted to file a complaint regarding trash from the softball teams that play at the Twin Lakes ball field. I live in the apartments behind those woods and often walk through that area. I think having the teams play there is great and I love watching them! However, after a night of playing the park is completely trashed with beer cars/boxes, wrappers and fast food bags. I love that they are having such a good time when they play but there are trash cans on the property that they are clearly not using and just basically making the area dirty for the rest of us. The picture attached is just a small amount I saw this morning, let alone the many other times throughout the summer that this has happened in and around the parking lot as well as the trails. Could we provide more trash cans for them? Or perhaps talk to the team captains about making an announcement. If that doesn't work and they can't clean up after themselves maybe sending a patrol officer to assist with cracking down on the tailgating. I would imagine it's illegal to drink alcohol in a public park but I'm not positive on the laws. Thanks so much for your help!

It looks like someone has driven some equipment down the paved trail that goes through Renwick subdivision next to Southeast Park, clearing out brush on each side. At first we were thinking it was to aid construction of the unfinished houses down there (with a really dangerous culvert, but that's another issue) but it continues past that site. We thought someone might be clearing out the invasive honeysuckle, but it seemed awfully haphazard for that; there are several small trees that are broken and damaged. They could be widening the trail, but there's no need for that. I think the trail itself belongs to the Parks Foundation. Do you know what is going on down there? Thanks!
There are two very large and deep muddy puddles in the large dog park area at Switchyard. One is located by the large tree in the center of the park, and the other is located by the sitting area under the green awning. My dog recently got into the muddy water, ate and drank it, and became severely sick for several days. After speaking with several dog owners at the park, this has happened with their dogs too, so it is definitely a health hazard. It is very difficult to keep the dogs away from these areas. This does not seem to be a problem just after rainfall, but most of the time. I ask that they be filled with gravel or fenced off to allow for regrowth and to keep dogs away in the meantime. Yesterday I visited the playground at Winslow Woods Park with my son. The playground space is in dire need of repair. The rubber flooring is patchy, worn, and disintegrating, creating trip hazards. The climbing jungle gym is rusty, with peeling paint and worn plastic. It does not seem structurally unstable, but could use at least some sanding and repainting to make it safer for young children. My experiences at other city parks and playgrounds have all been wonderful, so this seems out of character. I'd be interested to know if there is a barrier to repair/replacement of equipment at this park, if it is slated for removal, or if there is anything I can do as a resident to help advocate for its upkeep. We love to visit our parks and appreciate all the good work the Parks Department does for our community!
