There is a lot of parks activity at 9th street park right now. Wjhah looks like a class with kids has 4 staff members who are all wearing masks and appropriately distancing. However there are about 6 guys in neon yellow shirts just yards away from them at the playground. They are not wearing masks, spitting and all clustered together. Its almost like completely separate worlds. What is the mask policy for city employees?

Bryan Park has nice horseshoe pits but there is no sand in the pits, which allows the horseshoes to land and mainly stay in place. The hard ground and a tree root or two causes a well placed throw to bounce 8-10 feet. It throws off the legitimacy of the game and is potentially hazardous when those throws bounce way beyond the pits (if passers by get too close). So some sand or sawdust in the pit boxes would be a great improvement at almost no cost.

Hello, I've noticed a few things that need attention on some of our playgrounds while there with my toddler. 1) the gate to the small kids playground at Bryan Park has been broken for two weeks at least...my small daughter loves making the escape now. 2) more than once this month I've found dog poop on that same playground. 3) people without children have been loitering on the switchyard playground. Yesterday a man smoking a cigarette was playing fetch with his dog all over the equipment and people were driving motorized scooters through the playground. Another man was vaping. Between the tobacco use, unleashed dog, motorized scooters, and lingering adults without children I didn't feel safe letting my child roam and play freely there. I felt it would be best to bring these issues to your attention. Thank you for all you do! We really love visiting Bloomington's parks!

Water fountains at southeast park still have yet to be turned on. Will they be turned back on at any point? The fountain by the tennis courts was used heavily by many runners who no longer have access to water on their routes.

The mulch in the Broadview park under the swings and playground has washed away in areas causing deep groves that could be dangerous for children. It looks like more mulch is needed and the washed away mulch needs to be cleaned up. Thank you!

Extremely rude boat house attendants at Griffey Lake today. Instead of letting us know the lake was closed when they saw us unload and launch our kayaks; the attendant waited until we were launched and past the bridge before screaming at us that the lake was closed. Had he let us know if any sort of nicer way this wouldn’t have been a problem at all. He also just stood and watched us load back up our kayaks and did not explain at all that the lake was closed. There were many people fishing and using the dock today so that was confusing that the lake was just closed to us. Hateful interactions like this will cause us to gladly not use this facility again.

While playing at the Lion's Den and Lower Cascades playgrounds, I've encountered employees smoking on the playground premises while children are present. They are the cleanup crew who care for the restrooms and trash. While I don't care about their habits or what they do with their break time, playgrounds are supposed to be a smoke free zone, and especially while kids are there.
