My son sustained a fairly serious facial laceration (5.5cm down to the bone across his whole left eyebrow requiring suturing at the ER by a plastic surgeon) in an indoor soccer game that night. From the sidelines, it was not clear what had happened, and while the ref walked over to look at my son on the ground, no one summonned any help from the sidelines or sent anyone off the field for aid supplies until I actually walked onto the field to see why he had not gotten up off the ground.

Hi,
There is a substantial amount of poison ivy along the path that cuts through the middle of Bryan Park, especially toward the east. It's right at dog/toddler height. Could this be eradicated? Thank you.

Hi. There's a wasp nest in the north-side basketball goal at Winslow Woods Park. The nest is under the rim.
Thank you.

Dear Parks and Rec,
Thanks for getting new pool lounge chairs at Bryan Park Pool! The other moms and I were just about over the broken old ones. Hopefully these new ones will last longer than the previous ones, which were almost always broken. The new ones have a better design.
At high traffic times, I noted that people were still wandering around to find somewhere to sit or lay. Perhaps ordering a dozen more would be a good idea.
Additionally, though people can certainly bring their own lawn chairs, I think it would be a good idea to have a dozen regular plastic chairs available for people who cannot sit comfortably on the low-to-the-ground pool lounge chairs. It's hard for grandparents or people with limited mobility to get up and down from the loungers.
Thank you,
Lucy Fischman

On August 21st, I reported a homeless camp at Wapehani Park. It was examined and reported back to me that the camp was on private property. I found this quite strange, because it is on a trail that has a difficulty marker at the beginning of the trail. It totally looks like the other trails in the park and there's absolutely no way to tell it's private property. At any rate, the homeless people have moved on and have left a large amount of trash in what I believe is the park. There are probably 15+ large bags worth of trash - clothes, books, pans, papers, etc. My original report was 165599. I really hope someone will look, because I really don't think what I'm describing is on private property. Thanks for your consideration!

Yesterday I visited the playground at Winslow Woods Park with my son. The playground space is in dire need of repair. The rubber flooring is patchy, worn, and disintegrating, creating trip hazards. The climbing jungle gym is rusty, with peeling paint and worn plastic. It does not seem structurally unstable, but could use at least some sanding and repainting to make it safer for young children.
My experiences at other city parks and playgrounds have all been wonderful, so this seems out of character. I'd be interested to know if there is a barrier to repair/replacement of equipment at this park, if it is slated for removal, or if there is anything I can do as a resident to help advocate for its upkeep. We love to visit our parks and appreciate all the good work the Parks Department does for our community!
