There are multiple low-hanging trees on the south side of E Hagan Street that make the sidewalk difficult to pass. I believe these are city-maintained trees on the easement.
AT&T cut the sidewalk on the corner of Heather and Laurel. I believe the underground work has been completed but no sign of repair. Many older people and some disabled walk there. This is causing a danger.
An area of new sod immediately adjacent to the sidewalk and between the sidewalk and street has collapsed (in some places to a depth of 9 inches) in such a way that it is unsafe for bicyclists or pedestrians who may veer off the sidewalk even very briefly. We believe this sod was laid after the ground was dug for installation of the fiber cable for Gigabit Now. We (University Baptist Church) are not certain of the best agency to contact about the problem, and we are hoping that you will either take care of it or direct us to the correct people to contact. The sidewalk was removed here last year for gas line connections to new apartments in this area. However, the sidewalk has not been patched after removal.
This section of sidewalk on the west side of Sare Rd between Rogers and the SOCC parking lot entrance has been missing for years. It impedes mobility for persons with mobility disabilities and could cause a problem for someone with limited sight. I suspect that Vectren removed the sidewalk and didn't replace it. Thanks, John
No access ramps onto sidewalks in Sherwood Oaks neighborhood. Individuals in wheel chairs often use the street, which is quite dangerous due to excessive speeds on Allendale. Kids on bikes are also displaced into the street, another danger to to excessive speeds and failure to stop at stop signs on Allendale. Parents with strollers as well struggle with no access ramps.
The sidewalk from here all the way to the pedestrian crossing at Olcott sucks. It's an awful garbage sidewalk. There's been several reports about it being unsafe, and it's constantly blocked by vegetation. It's narrow and precipitous in places. Anything wider than a sedan risks clipping pedestrians.
Black top sidewalk put in by apartment contractors at Clarizz and 3rd looks like a turning lane!! Paint the curb and put walking sign on “sidewalk” ASAP please…. Tire marks already on curb where folks have hit it.
The part of the curb on the West side of Sare Rd, as showed in the picture, protrudes into the lane unexpectedly and narrows it. As you can see it has black tire marks and the cement is chipped as well – indicating that cars hot the curb all the time. We walk or run there every day and this is an accident waiting to happened. A few days ago, as we were walking along, an SUV hit the curb, right there, and continued to weave for 50 yards. If it had jumped the curb we would have been hit. Generally speaking the walking path is too close to the road and a guard rail should be installed between the Hyde Park Village and at least to Spicewood.
The sidewalk contruction on E Winslow Rd has been going on since winter. The project has more says with no one working on it than working on it. today I saw only 4 men on the whole project and none of them were doing any work at 11 AM. Lots of road projects in Bloomington are started and then left abandoned for months. As a resident I don't like this. If they start something they ought to work on it till finished then move on. Im frustrated with the disruption that has been going on for 7 months for a very small project.
