I sent an earlier file that I think got sent without my name etc re sidewalk repair issues in Rolling Oak in the Stands. I apologize for the redundancy but wanted you to have my contact info if needed. There are multiple issues with sidewalks both along Stands rd and Oakmont and Rolling Oak that are potential trip hazards. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Laura Chappell

Numerous sidewalk issues in Rolling Oak due to street trees(particularly pin oaks) There are multiple places along Stands Road on the Rolling Oak subdivision side as well as on Rolling Oak and Oakmont. Included are a few pictures. There was some repair work done a few years ago but these places are now a huge trip hazard. I would appreciate your quick advisement on this issue. Workers grinding the sidewalk are generating significant clouds of silica dust. Silica-generating grinding operations are supposed to be controlled by water or vacuum. The vacuum systems they are using are clearly ineffective. This is clear if you watch them work, it's also clear if you examine a recently ground section of sidewalk. Significant concrete dust remains on the sidewalk surface because the vacuum isn't picking it up. The city is substituting a respiratory hazard for a trip hazard. I don't want to get these guys in trouble, but would appreciate if the city would ensure they're using water or effective vacuum controls.

I assume you're aware of the damage the gas company has done to the asphalt sidewalk in this area (east side of High St by Childs Elementary), and it looks like they are still working. Please make sure that when they repair the sidewalk, they also repair the area immediately north of their work area up to Rock Creek. They have clearly been driving heavy trucks on it and the edges of the sidewalk are cracked and heaving because of it. You can see at the curb ramp at Rock Creek all their tire marks proving they did it and they've broken the concrete there too. Those of us who use this regularly will greatly appreciate a full repair (don't let them just do the obvious area that they removed). Thanks!
