I wasn't sure where to send this to but hoping you can share these remarks with the Historic Preservation Commission:
The HPC seems to have developed a recent tendency to focus not on the history of buildings and places but instead on what is going to be built in making decisions. I would like them to emphasize the former more, as believe it more closely aligns with their expertise and jurisdiction. Commissioner Derek Richey for instance posted to the History Club Facebook page about the Player's Pub building. Totally fine, but he also posted that implied scary, ugly, and expensive student housing would be built there. Let Planners and the City Commission deal with that. I'd like HPC to focus on whether something is worth saving, and if the only reason it is worth saving is to stop something HPC doesn't like instead of its historic value, that is not a good reason for HPC to stop something. I have no dog in the fight with this building - whatever happens is fine - but let's not use scare tactics and pseudoplanning. Historic districts are often pitched to neighborhoods as a means to enhance property values so complaining about how something high priced will go in somewhere is a bit hypocritical anyways. Also thank you for those times you all allow flexibility to creative development and reuse when keeping the old while adding new needed dimensions to our town.

I am not sure where to send this to but hoping you can share these remarks with the Historic Preservation Commission: I see that the players Pub is up for the HPC to decide if it should be taken down. I think it should. The place is about to fall in and is a eyesore to everyone in that area. I see that Derek Richey posted that he is wanting to keep because he does not want more Apt built in Bloomington? what is his job? seems like he has crossed the line and is trying to act as a city planning and not the HPC. He is trying to get all his friends to send in that is should stay so someone will not build new. That is not his job. He should not be able to post like this. Derek has crossed the line. I think it should come down and whatever goes in can only help the area out. Never heard of Boxman and I have been around my whole life. Tear it down.

Please contact the people in charge of the Little Neighborhood Libraries & Little Neighborhood pantries & tell them that the Library & Pantry on N. Madison--a 1/2 block north of Kirkwood need work. I have replaced the window on the Library, but it keeps disappearing. The Pantry has never had a door or window. Both cabinets are not protected from rain, etc. & the Pantry is extremely dirty.

Plato's Court @ Knights Landing
- Case Date:

My daughter resides at 2035 N. Walnut Street Apt.C37. She has multiple photos showing the mold and mildew issue in her studio apartment. She contacted Plato's Court with her concerns and they placed a dehumidifier in her apartment to assist in removing the moisture. In addition, we also purchased damp rid bags to hopefully help. She continued to have issues and received an email that the complex had closed this work order. She proceeded to email them with the objection that the mold and mildew issue was not resolved with no response. She has even made an ER visit with concerns of covid, but those results came back negative. It is a daily battle with the black residue on all her possessions, including countertops, spiderlike webbing on her ceiling, and her bathroom shower insert. We are not sure where to turn and are extremely concerned with her health. Thank you for you time.

Possible unauthorized rental/leasing arrangement at 3620 W. Race St., Bloomington, IN 47403. This year I have noticed three short term , out of state, visitors at the described property that appear to be in a room rental agreement with the owner. Typical stay is about one month. Not sure if this an approved activity but worth making sure it's within compliance. We're not overly fond of not knowing who are short term neighbors are. The police have been contacted on two occasions for suspicious activity, possibly related to drugs.

The house next door to us has been abandoned for over a year. The yard is extremely over grown and the house is wide open. Our neighborhood has had an increased crime activity and this house is a welcome mat for people to use as a hideaway. The address is 202 E Ridgeview Dr. 47401, what can we do?
