In 2019/2020, the Rogers Multiuse Path Project removed a large area of mature evergreen trees and shrubs. Before the project began, the city convened a public meeting at Sherwood Oaks church, where this project was presented. Neighborhood residents were under the impression (from what was stated at the meeting) that despite the construction and removal of mature trees and shrubs there was a plan to replace the mature trees and provide appropriate barriers to shield adjacent residences from Rogers Rd. Given that one of the adjacent neighborhoods is named “The Woodlands” it is ironic that the large swath of mature trees and shrubs was removed by the city. In 2020, the neighborhood inquired about the promised tree replacement plan and advocated in support of the tree replacement plan via email exchanges with a city employee. There is a pole/light at this stop that has metal bands wrapped in two spots for a trash can to be attached. Although the trash can is not attached and sits beside the pole, that is not the problem. Today, one of the metal bands (which sticks out at the end of its seal point) sliced my leg open. Luckily I had a first aid kit, but that is dangerous.

The area on the north side of Sudbury Drive, between the last Millenium driveway and Arbor Ridge Way is not being maintained, mowed, etc. by the Millemium Apartment Management. I complained to Kenny Liford in the summer of 2024. He told me he gave them a warning and that they would be fined if they did not comply. To date, they have never mowed that area since that complaint. They used to maintain it until the past 2-3 years. According to the INDOT, this area is within the city limits. The area not being maintained is along the tree conservancy, which is owned by Millenium but governed by the city.

There appears to be a small homeless camp in the backyard behind the unoccupied house with a tent and two abandoned vehicles. The house itself has been vacant for many years and none of the people staying there seem to be entering the home. A relative of the people who own the house, a man named Bob, began staying in the backyard over a year ago, but he has since left and other people are now staying there in his absence. Recently, neighbors have found human feces and needles in their yard nearby, creating sanitary concerns, as well as heard a woman yelling in what sounded like distress at night. Outreach to the family of the property owner has not been successful so far, so I’m hoping someone could please look into this situation. Thank you!

Stephen was asking about the city's response to Malibou house as he is a resident of the street on which one of their houses is located and expressed that he is already dealing with the effects of slummy properties, and this is making it much more difficult to deal with. He complained about noise, traffic, and the overall parking nightmare that has become of his culdesac.

Sunday afternoons, even in the downtown area, should be a chance the peaceful enjoyment the premises of one's own abode. Today, however, the noise from the sidewalk musicians who are somehow sponsored by the record store on the east side of Walnut just south of Sixth Street, makes any peaceful enjoyment impossible. I have my windows shut, even though I should be able to have them open on a day as warm as this, and even though the windows are shut, the noise is quite intrusive. Does Bloomington not have a prohibition against this kind of use of the public right of way? Don't you need a permit, or can any business just say: Hey come play the drums and electric guitar out in front of my shop? More maybe they do have a permit. If they do, they should post it so everyone can see that it is allowed. I understand a certain amount of weird noises are part and parcel of downtown living. But this seems like an abuse of the downtown public sphere. Thanks for whatever you are able to do to help make downtown Bloomington actually livable.

On Friday, July 12, a crew from JE Reedy pushed through my double locked gate to clear a path so they could install fiber overhead (in a neighborhood that already has fiber). They seriously cut at least 3 trees: 2 are trees that get no taller than 15 feet, and a pine that was near the pole they needed to climb (Duke has cleared this area for years and never had to hack the pine). They said that they came by on Thursday but they did not leave any notice that they would be working in my backyard so they were trespassing. They could have done their work without destroying my fence row but that would have involved creativity and a little effort. I am sickened, angry and sad and want someone in the City to see this mess and come up with a way to make this right. I have several photos but could only upload one.

There are a few grass-cutting services in town that use loud, industrial, gasoline-powered equipment that is designed and intended for use on large fields/cemeteries/etc., but they are instead being used on small, residential plots up close to neighboring properties whose residents do not appreciate the noise, hazards, and pollution produced by these dangerous machines. Are there any City regulations about the use of such equipment in the city limits? For example, the property immediately adjacent to the Grant Street Inn on 7th Street uses such a service. The large equipment is startingly disruptive and annoying.
