People have been camping in the shelter houses at 9th St. Park for several weeks, if not months. I've been reluctant to officially report it but over the last week it's become a bit more permanent. And also a bit unruly.

What is that summer camp that starts with W close to Hoosier National Forest?
What all do people camp in other than cabins, tents, yurts, trailers and motorhomes?

Do you both have info about adult summer camps?
What are all of the rules of and to using since?

The path surrounding the parking lot of the Winslow Sports Complex needs to be repaved.
It is worn to the nub, cracked and uneven. It is a hazard to elderly and infirm people (of whom I am one). I walk there every day, several times a day. There are many of us who do this. During baseball games, there are also many parents and grandparents who have to walk this path.
You are just waiting for a lawsuit if this goes unrepaired.
Thank you.

Hello
I am a parent of an IU Ice hockey player. I was wondering if I could get information about what it would take to open the Frank Southern Arena on September 1st vs. October 1st. The players are under a lot of pressure to balance school and ice hockey. During the first weeks of the season, they lose so much time traveling to other rinks to practice. It's tiring and dangerous given their exhaustion. Is there a budget that you would need to achieve in order to afford the opening 30 days earlier than current budget allows. Thank you. There have been two men camping in the shelter at Winslow Woods park for well over a week. They sleep on the shelter picnic tables at night and stay all day in the shelter, burning wood in the bbq pit. They have been there every day I have gone to the community gardens for the past few weeks. They seem to be storing their belongings in a maroon vehicle that is always there. It is concerning that these individuals have set up camp in the shelter, which effectively keeps anyone else from using it. I thought the city was prohibiting camping in our parks, but this one has been going on for a while now.

There are several unhoused men living at the shelter at the Winslow Woods Park between the community gardens and the playground. They have been there for weeks. They left for a day and are back, now with a friend and his dogs. They burn wood in the grill day and night, never leave, and have a car packed with their belongings. They have taken over picnic tables as beds. No one else can use the shelter and it feels unsafe. Running them off for one day is not solving this problem. I do not feel safe going to the community gardens and orchard alone any longer. Why are they allowed to literally camp there? Please make this playground, shelter, and garden area safe again.

This is a follow up on Case #192474 that Tim Street closed last week regarding unhoused individuals using the park shelter at Winslow Woods near the Community Gardens and Community Orchard as a camp.
I appreciate that the BPD is aware, but these unhoused individuals continue to live in the shelter. We go to our garden plot at sunrise and they are there, sleeping, so they obviously sleep there overnight.
They are there all day, taking over a third of the shelter. They continue to burn smoky, green wood in the grill. There things are spread all over. I’m not aware they harass anyone but it’s uncomfortable.
Are you saying it’s okay that they live there? That anyone can basically take over a park building for private use on an ongoing basis? Because that is what they have done.
It appears the City has simply ceded the park to these guys. This needs to be addressed in a better way. I feel that others should be free to use the shelter and surrounding area without these men making it feel unsafe.
