I noticed that there is another concert this Sunday in Bryan Park. My family loves attending the concerts and movies since we live near by. I have noticed that the grass has was really long at the last concert and seems like has not been cut as regularly. Is there any chance it could be cut before these events?
It appears that the City's 2025 pool waiver eligibility policy has changed. In past years, waiver eligibility has been based solely on qualifying household income. Now, additional criteria has been added to also require a minor living in the household. Please consider returning to the sole criteria based on household income. It would be much more equitable to allow low-income adults to have access to city pools as well, even if they do not have children. Especially at a time with deep cuts to many federal resources for low-income people, local supports are more important than ever.
I saw this Walking with Ease sign at Bryan Park. For people with arthritis or poor balance or impaired vision / hearing or other such issues would walk around the asphalt paths with greater ease and sense of safety if some "Cyclists Yield to Pedestrians" signs were posted. This is especially true of the path through the middle of the park, which connects cyclists between the Allen Street Bicycle Boulevard and the Southdowns bike-ped lanes. I would suggest a sign at each end of that path, on the the Henderson and Woodlawn sides. I walk there frequently with my dog and friends. Cyclists approach from in front and behind. We pedestrians usually make room and sometimes the cyclists do. Sometimes they let us know when they come up from behind, but not always. Some signage could end the confusions over right-of-way. Keep in mind that the mid-path curves. That is pleasant and would be safer if cyclists slowed down and anticipated other users. Defensivei cycling, the cycling version of defensive driving. Thanks!
Hi there - a kind suggestion as we are in summer. There were some patrons today with a service animal. It may be a suggestion to post signage or have the kind workers remind that the concrete is 100°.. not many shade options when all areas are taken.. and poor animals being made to pant and burn their paws. I am not against service animals, but the cruelty or failure to treat animals with care, especially in this weather. I was mere minutes away from calling police today for the animal.
The concrete apron, on the rails to trails Bridge, located 1.5 miles from Tapp Head, has an abrupt raised edge (peaks at 1.25") If someone could reduce the impact zone, I think that would be less of a liability for all who traverse. Unfortunately we are three weeks into the baseball season and the batting cages are still not setup at the Winslow Sports Complex. The kids have had no opportunity to practice batting, many of which are new to baseball and this is critical for getting them prepared for the first game and may impact their willingness to participate. Youth sports is such an important part of the community and having a good first experience is important. I would like to know what is causing the delay of the batting cage setup and when they are expected to be completed. Thank you.
I believe this tree behind my house was struck by lightening causing a large section of the tree to fall toward Moore's Pike. Much of what can be seen in the tree is vines, not leaves. Much of the tree is dead.
I am reporting a second dead tree behind my house that is on the street side of the sidewalk. This one is also covered in vines.
Could not find a site supervisor at Winslow to get the scoreboard working for high school baseball game. Looked for one for 25 min on both sides of the park
