There appears to be Johnson Grass growing along the Jackson Creek Trail, north of Rhorer Road. There is a small bit on the west side of the trail, just north of the farm. There is much more on the creek side of the trail across from the farm. Johnson Grass is very invasive.
Hello, while biking on the Park Ridge Bike Trail (which leads under the bypass), I've noticed a lot of construction in that area. Specifically, I've noticed that gravel is being laid along the tracks, and was wondering if a trail is being put in there? Perhaps one that leads to Park Ridge East Park?! I really hope that's it, but thought I would check. Thank you!
For the last few mornings there have been cars parked in front of the entrance to the Polly Grimshaw bike bath on the street right by the Park Ridge Park playground. I would like to request a more visible "no parking" sign be installed as this can be very inconvenient and even dangerous depending on how fast you are going on a bike.
I'm wondering if there's been any thoughts about developing a mountain biking loop around lake griffy? I'm sure that we could get some volunteer and local business support for building and maintaining something and maybe work with the university on a mtb'ing club who could also be trail stewards. Additionally, maybe some trail connectivity through that area could enable realistic bike commuting to Marlin Elementary. I don't think anyone wants to take their child on a bike down Griffy dam hill or old 37. I would be interested in meeting with someone and getting back into public service if a champion of the idea was needed. Thanks!
I found a syringe just a foot or two off the B-Line Trail in a clump of spearmint growing behind the orange building at 7th and Madison. Ironically, the syringe was orange too. I left it there, because I am not trained in handling syringes, but it should probably get picked up and disposed of properly. Thanks, Yael
ihitPolly Grimshaw Trail (east portion near tennis court) has numerous bumps that are hazards to bikes at speed (coming down the hill at night. Shrubs,weeds,brush and small trees have been cut down by someone and not removed, this area has also been sprayed with some type of Herbicide, that killed a lot of the grass, etc. In addition this trail was sprayed without any warning to the general public! Grass is being mowed along the trail without any attempt to clean up the mess made by whoever sprayed and cut the brush. This all needs to be cleaned up.
There is a large encampment with tents. They have two guard dogs tied who bark if anyone approaches. They have cleared all vegetation of plants. They have an open fire. It has not rained for some time. This is a dangerous situation and unfair to all who would like to use the space.
