We had our basement flood (wet carpet in half the basement) on January 20, 2017 without any previous sign of leakage on that side of the house. The source of the water is unclear, but I'm wondering if the home (built ca. 1973) has a footer drain connected to the storm drain. Kevin Potter is coming out to inspect for structural damage at 2 pm today (1/25/17) The city storm drain was updated within the past two years with the new pipe starting at the down-slope corner of our property. The neighbor two houses up-slope from us discharges a lot of water from his property and had excavation work done near the end of his french drain on the 18th or 19th. Part of this work involved off and onloading a sizeable backhoe in front of our driveway near where the old and new drain pipe would be joined. I'm not sure what work the neighbor had done. In addition to his drainage, the neighbor immediately down slope from us was also draining his pool into the storm drain on what had been a very rainy week. Is it possible to send a city employee out to see whether some combination of these activities has caused the drainage system to fail or otherwise backflow into our house? Thanks!

The city has come out and measured several times for a culvert to be installed in front of my driveway. The problem is that the street is higher than my driveway and this house is at the bottom of a hill. When it rains all the debris from the street and houses above me come into my driveway. There is so much water that my basement can flood and the water level can easily reach several feet deep. I have at the moment blocks of stones in front of my driveway so that the debris and water keeps going down Mitchel street instead of blocking the small drainage grates that are in driveway. A number of neighbors on our street have noticed the storm drains at 806 & 809 S. Stull appear to be clogged. We can see the stagnant water through the grate and it is above the culvert pipe and is just standing there. Please see attached photo. We are concerned about mosquito breeding and drain overflow into the street during heavy rain. Please send someone out to fix the situation. Many Thanks!

Our community has a broken storm drain that needs repair. It is located at the end of W. 12th St cul-de-sac and is supposed to run down the hill on city property between mine and my neighbors houses to N. Orris Dr through underground pipes. However, it just sprays out near the top of the hill from a broken pipe down the rocky hillside and through the dirt and straw (recently put there by the city (Adam Wason after the stairs and path were removed), creating a mess. Furthermore, a lot of that polluted water floods mine and my neighbors properties. Due to the lack of rain, this has not become a big issue but since we are moving into a wetter season, we are driven to get this problem resolved ASAP.

I don't know if this is a city, IU, or even state issue, but the storm sewer just north of the entrance to the IU Outdoor Pool on Fee Lane is completely clogged. This creates a pool of standing water that covers the east sidewalk and part of the road. It's a possible breading ground for mosquitos. It also forces pedestrians to walk on the road since the west sidewalk is closed due to construction.

Can someone please check the storm sewers in the 800 block of S. Stull Ave.? We can see when we look through the grates that there is very deep water standing (not flowing) in the drains. There may be a clog somewhere? We are being over run by mosquito's and are concerned that mosquito's are breeding there. Thank You!
