The storm drain at S Olive and E Hillside should be remedied. It is located at the bottom of a hill and gravel driveways uphill have gravel running down the street in heavy rains. There is so much gravel built up that weeds are growing around the stop sign and around the drain. Now, during a heavy rain, water cannot get to the drain and backs up into our driveway and gets close to the garage. This has consistently been an issue for years. Please remove the gravel and help us with a solution to keep this area clean.

There is a stormwater runoff ditch between our house (901 W 11th St) and the neighboring house, 827 W 11th St. I've noticed that after a rainfall, the stormwater that collects in the ditch looks blackish in color, and there is a strong odor of sewage coming from it. I'm wondering if there is a leak from the sanitary sewer somewhere in the neighborhood, that is spilling into the stormwater sewer.

We have city built ditches/basin along the streets for rainwater drainage in the area. I recently noticed there is a big hole in the middle of the ditch, lots of the water goes into that hole when it rains, looks like it keeps getting worse. Can you send someone to take a look, and get the hole patched please? As of 5:30pm 1/30/24 the storm drains on the southeast corner of Henderson and University (on both sides of the corner) are completely blocked with dirt and debris. Not possible for someone walking by to clear. Some of the other storm drains on this corner may benefit from clearing. Thank you. -C

Storm drain casement junction is clogged with branches. You can see it through the heavy iron grid on the drain at the SW corner of Southdowns and Ballantine. It will require lifting the grid cover the clear out.

For years there has been a strong sewer smell in the this area. (I have paid for plumbers to examine my house and the problem is not in the house.) As the cable workers have been laying the cable, I asked various if they also smelled the sewer odor and if they knew where it might be coming from. There were three basic answers: (1) A "lift station" in one of the drains may be faulty; (2) the terrain where sewage may back up at the crest of the hill; and (3) the manhole cover between houses at 909 West Gourley Pike is old and may be corroded so that the sewer gas is able to escape.
