Wednesday, August 9 The catch basin on the west side of the street just north of where the Indiana Rail Road crosses Pete Ellis Drive seems to be plugged somewhere underneath the road. Debris doesn’t pile up on the grate the way it used to, and the large puddle I observed after this afternoon’s thunderstorm was draining only slowly. called into city hall - K.Cummings, AHA inputting this issue -- John stated that he has called several times regarding this issue - there are two storm drains, one directly in front of his residence and another that is across the street that are in need of repair. John advised that the grates are too low, causing them to consistently get debris on them, causing flooding.

For years there has been a strong sewer smell in the this area. (I have paid for plumbers to examine my house and the problem is not in the house.) As the cable workers have been laying the cable, I asked various if they also smelled the sewer odor and if they knew where it might be coming from. There were three basic answers: (1) A "lift station" in one of the drains may be faulty; (2) the terrain where sewage may back up at the crest of the hill; and (3) the manhole cover between houses at 909 West Gourley Pike is old and may be corroded so that the sewer gas is able to escape.

On my walk in this morning, the metal storm grate on the north-east corner of 3rd and College had completely fallen down into the drain leaving the opening unprotected. Thank you!

Water coming up from this area is staying on the street drainage. It seems to be worse since the crews recently came through to install fiber. I see multiple reports on this issue have been made but there's water there now that could be tested.

As of 5:30pm 1/30/24 the storm drains on the southeast corner of Henderson and University (on both sides of the corner) are completely blocked with dirt and debris. Not possible for someone walking by to clear. Some of the other storm drains on this corner may benefit from clearing. Thank you. -C

A couple of months ago the city started installing new stormwater pipes on E Saratoga Dr. The project appears to have been abandoned mid-way through. One side of the street remains dug up and very loosely covered with gravel. Construction equipment has never been moved. Is there a timeline for finishing the project and restoring the road?

We are contacting you with hopes of getting some advice regarding the storm water stream that runs along E Vernon Ave in Matlock Heights neighborhood. There is a storm/ rain water stream( path) that runs under N Dunn Rd , goes west on E Vernon Ave and under Fritz Dr and eventually goes into a larger creek. Over the past few years this pathway has been deteriorating with some of the road erosion happening right before the water goes into the culvert under our driveway. The previous owner of our property added some rocks and blocks but it does not solve the road erosion problem. We are needing guidance and help since we do not know how to address the erosion and also the public road. During the rain event on Wednesday evening (Jan 18), I notice significant water standing at the NE corner of 3rd and College. Several cars, including mine, moved into the center lane (west bound) on 3rd, to ensure that the rising water would not come into contact with the car. Can the drain at that NE corner/intersection be checked/cleared? This is the second time I have experienced this at that intersection, this year.
