The brush on the west side of Rockport Rd just south of Pinehurst Dr. needs trimmed back. It is difficult to see oncoming traffic when turning left onto Rockport from Pinehurst.
Topic: West 16th, Hancock Dr., and West 15th section through/beside Crestmont Park. This is a beautiful, and I believe under-appreciated stretch of street. Quiet, park setting with trees. However, there is one problem - the road is extremely narrow. Too narrow. If a car is coming one way and encounters a car coming the other way, one has to stop and pull half-way off the road for the other to get by. This is particularly problematic because the blacktop drops off several inches right at the edge and the soil at the edge is often washed out in certain areas. Another issue is that some drivers drive entirely too fast through here and then cut the corner at the bottom of the hill too tightly - this has practically run me off the road in the past. I don't wish to suggest that this section of street be widened. That would ruin its park-like atmosphere. What I would like to suggest is this: Starting at Lindbergh, W. 15th, Hancock, and W. 16th up to Monroe St be made one-way westbound. Then, the section of Lindbergh between W. 15th and W. 17th be switched to one-way northbound once 17th is reopened. I don't think that much traffic normally comes up Lindbergh where it would create that much more traffic on W.16th, etc. Perhaps put down counters to check, but it would cut out the traffic from one way and make the road more safe. Even if none of this is pursued, one thing that is definitely needed are "SLOW" signs and "PARK" signs. There may be a sign marking that there is a ninety-degree curve does in the bottom, but if not, there needs to be one of those too. Thank you for taking the time to read this. Cars travel too fast on Grimes between Woodlawn and Henderson. Speed bumps could help slow the speed of traffic.
Cannot get to the west side of town from the east side at or near rush hour
At the intersection of 6th and Rogers, cars regularly block the entrance/exit to the Near West Side neighborhood when they move from the 4-way stop at 7th and Rogers to the intersection of Kirkwood and Rogers. I would suggest marking the 6th and Rogers intersection with a "Don't Block the Box" pavement marking. Something needs to be done to stop vehicles in both directions from blocking the intersection of 6th and Rogers.
Please put up a sign to prevent left turn from third to Union during busy times. Much better for flow.
Hillside traffic turning right tobgo north on walnut cannot turn on red, but if there was a right turn arrow, they could when people turning left from southbound walnut to Hillside were going. This would be so helpful and keep people from breaking the law by turning anyway. Thanks!
The lights at intersections need re programmed so that a green light happens in sequence. The cars can’t progress because the light stays red for 10 seconds while the eastern intersections light is burning green. The cars can’t travel anywhere. Very frustrating!
Hello, would it be possible to make the intersection of North Dr and Henderson St (and Summitview Place) a four-way stop? It's currently a two-way with Henderson traffic not stopping, and at multiple points during the day with the bus stop right at that corner cars will wait easily up to five minutes just to have enough of a break in traffic to cross (or even turn in some cases). Also, heading across on North, with the school's baseball field right at that corner and the black material put up on the fence now, it's practically a blind corner unless you creep up to the point that you're in the intersection. Going back to the bus stop, I also think it'd be much safer for pedestrians as there are many who walk their dogs around both the apartment complex (Summit Pointe) and the school's sidewalks. The intersection at E 2nd St and S Park Ave is unsafe. It's where 2nd St jogs to the south and it should probably be a four way stop. I'm not actually sure what would be best, but it's a dangerous intersection.
