At 1st and Rogers the lines at the stops are gone. Dr. Timothy Hodges has almost been hit and he would like to have lines on the road so cars know where to stop.

At the stoplight on E. Covenanter, close to the shopping complex with Kroger, there is a lack of painted street markings indicating where the left-turn lane is and where the street at the intersection is divided between traffic directions. I have often witnessed this resulting in confused drivers, who sometimes attempt driving straight across College Mall Road when they are actually in the left-turn lane. Proper street markings and arrows should be painted to make this less confusing and less dangerous for everyone.
The location is Maxwell La. & Sheridan Rd. (I don't know how 311 W. 8th st.came up on this form!) I leave 834 Sheridan to go to High St. via Maxwell about 4-5x/week for the past 7 years, and I've always thought how helpful it would be to have a stop sign on Maxwell to make a left turn there safer. Cars going east on Maxwell are not seen as I stop at Sheridan until about 2-3 car lengths distance because they are coming up a hill. Many times, even though I've looked carefully, a car will come up behind me quite close after I've made my left turn, & often it's because I think the other car might be going a bit fast. A stop sign here could make the turn much safer. (This form needs a "reply requested" option. I would appreciate a reply!Thank you.)
Street sign missing and stop sign needs replaced on Lorelei Way off of Smith Rd.
WOULD LIKE STREET LIGHTS FROM 13TH STREET TO 17TH STREET ON NORTH JACKSON. (REQUESTED IN LETTER TO THE HT EDITOR, 11/17/98)
west 3rd Ave. I total understand that road construction needs to be completed and delays can be expected. However, the traffic pattern on west 3rd over 37 is unacceptable. I live of Johnson Drive (a few blocks east of the intersection) and I can't even get home without be blocked by traffic for 25 to 30 minutes. The construction company seems to have enough paved space now to keep 2 east/west bound lanes open and keep the traffic flow going. They need to re strip the lanes and/or have police direct traffic. There are only 2 fully operational overpasses on 37 which would be fullerton way south or 46 up north squeezing all the traffic on to 2nd/3rd which are both restricted in lanes. As I said, delays can be expected with construction but the times are unacceptable.
IUPD has contacted the Facility Operations Control Center for the Bloomington Campus about stopping several vehicles going the wrong way on a one way street. The intersection that is causing the problem is 8th & Indiana, IUPD would like the area better marked with a Do Not Enter sign or better placement of current signs.
For years I have seen many drivers on Rogers (both directions) blow through the stop sign at Dodds. I’ve had three near-misses that I can recall and have seen others have near misses. I saw 2 just today. I’ve come to the point where I think there is something wrong that so many run this stop sign. I don’t know if more prominent striping on the street or larger signs will help or not, but I feel it needs investigation.
The barricades set up on Rockport Road at the intersection of Roger's Street and Rockport Road are creating a dangerous situation. Specifically, the barricade in the lane for Rockport approaching Rogers requires traffic to drive in to oncoming traffic. This particular barricade doesn't seem to serve any purpose, as it is only visible to traffic traveling on Rockport towards Rogers street, the opposite direction of the Tapp/Rockport intersection.
I have reported this intersection (Allendale and Winslow) before. Motorists run through the stop signs on Allendale on a regular basis. I see this at least once per week (I live in Sherwood Oaks) and each member of my family observes this as well, so it happens a LOT. Several years ago I was told you were going to install bigger stop signs and put on on each side of the road to make them more visible. Nothing has happened. Perhaps a glowing/flashing stop sign such as they have in other cities? Thank you, Kim
