Allen st greenway. Eastbound at walnut, the beg button is AWOL. It was too far from the roadway to be pushed by a cyclist anyways. The two-stage crossing (beg button in the refuge island) is worth nothing to me because I can only push it if my kids (trailer) are hanging out in the southbound traffic lanes. There is literally no traffic calming for northbound traffic on walnut here, which is still largely unwilling to yield even when the lights are in operation. The stop signs at Washington and Lincoln are facing the wrong direction. It is important to make allen inconvenient to drivers, but it is also essential to make it super convenient (and safe) for cyclists. The routes through bryan park suck for cyclists. Just reiterating a bunch of notes in case excellence ever becomes an interest of the city. Thanks!

On August 27, a bicyclist came down Olive Street, which is a city bike lane, and flew into traffic in front of my truck. It was raining and I slammed on my brakes but it was too late and I hit him with my truck. The man who is a teacher at IU ended up with two spinal fractures, a horribly broken leg and a concussion. He was at fault but if you take a look at that hill it is very steep. I think his brakes locked up and he hydroplaned into the road. There was busy traffic going both ways on Hillside. This happened at 8:35 AM in the rain in front of a school bus from Templeton. I live in the Arden neighborhood and we walk our children to school at Harmony often. There is NO CROSSWALK anywhere between High Street and Henderson Street. It makes me nervous to try and send my kids to school on bikes or even let them walk. I hope that there maybe something that could be done at that intersection in the form of a sign or flashing light and some paint across the street to make people aware that bicyclist maybe crossing there. As I was going down Hillside today, I saw another bicyclist shoot out across the road from Olive up to Weatherstone. I think the bicyclist don’t always know how steep that hill is and you can’t really see the traffic on Hillside until you are at the bottom of it. I was 8 months pregnant on my way to a OB appt at 8:35 when this wreck accured. Traffic was very heavy and everyone was going the speed limit. Even though he was at fault in the eyes of the law, this accident ruined his life I’m sure. I really dont want any stop signs on hillside but like I said, some kind of cross walk might be smart since there is a park and a school within a block of this incident. Thank you

I apologize..I'm not sure I picked the right category. I would like to request a crosswalk at 11th and Walnut..across walnut. The bus stops there and let's large groups of students off that then cross, going west. After dark, I'm worried someone will get hit especially. Thanks in advance. Susan Hingle

Walking path along the roadside at South East park is very dangerous for pedestrians. East Moores Pike, a high speed road is higher in elevation than the path. Would suggest a guard rail along the road to prevent vehicles from being able to run over someone on the path if they were to leave the roadway.

I'm very concerned about the new surfacing on E. 3rd by the State, but I know the City supported it. I know there was not going to be a physical barrier at this point but did think the bike lanes would at least by wide. Please please make sure they are wider than the ones on N. Smith or very very few will feel safe using them. I supported the project as thought it would give me a biking option, but I'm fearful now it'll just be slimmer roads and no real bikable upgrade. Thanks for any input you can give the State!

Stranded pedestrian: Sidewalk ends on both sides of the street going west on Rogers at the Stands. There was no signage for the lack of pedestrian access when I came out of Spicewood.

Have reported this before, never got an answer. I was told it was something to do with the city and guard rail study. The trail at this location is below the grade of the road on Moores Pike. I requested evaluation for a guard rail to protect walkers from a car leaving the road and rolling over the hill. This is a high speed road and it is very unnerving to walk along this trail. Send someone out and stand there to see what I mean.

The Bloomington Bagel Company at 113 N. Dunn Street recently installed giant umbrellas on their outdoor patio tables. As a result, the tables and chairs are extending into the pedestrian right of way on the sidewalk. The umbrellas are also not tall enough to safely walk under. It appears to be presenting several hazards and blocking safe access for pedestrians and individuals who use wheelchairs.

276 South Rose Avenue

Case Date:

Is it possible to have a crosswalk painted on 3rd at Rose? Today I saw a blind person trying to make the crossing. Per the email below, a few years ago, it seemed this was a possibility. Yes. There will be marked crosswalks on 3rd at Rose. On Tue, Oct 22, 2013 at 10:51 AM, Schertz, Hannah H. <hschertz@indiana.edu> wrote: Thanks for the response. I have noticed the bike stripes. My concern is crossing 3rd at Rose as a pedestrian. Is there any chance of a crosswalk there? Thanks, Hannah -- Hannah Schertz, Ph.D. Indiana University School of Education 201 N Rose Ave. Bloomington, IN 47405 812-856-8146 From: Adrian Reid <reida@bloomington.in.gov> Date: Tuesday, October 22, 2013 10:49 AM To: HSchertz <hschertz@indiana.edu> Subject: uReport request Good morning, Thank you for your uReport request regarding Rose Avenue. At this point, the likelihood of a sidewalk on Rose Avenue is very low. You probably have noticed changes on 3rd Street as a result of the City's Greenways Implementation Plan, however. Rose Avenue in the segment you describe is designated as a neighborhood greenway as well. So you will see some additional signage and striping at the 3rd & Rose intersection if you haven't already. Thank you again for your uReport request. Thanks, Adrian

Please add a flashing light and signage at the crosswalk where the B-Line crosses Rogers to alert drivers to be prepared to stop for pedestrians. It's especially important because the sidewalk on the east side of Rogers is closed, so people entering or exiting the B-Line there need to cross from or to the west side of Rogers. (I.e., we can't walk on the east side and cross Rogers at the stop sign at 11th St.)
