The stormwater drainage ditch (also known as "Sheridan Creek") near the intersection of Sheridan and Karen continues to erode with chunks of asphalt going into stormwater drains. This was looked at a couple of years ago with a decision of "careful watching." It seems like it is now time to re-pave the culvert or put in a drainage pipe, consistent with what is at both ends of this ditch.
We have had a drainage issue here for 20 years and I have asked for help many times and no one will do anything to help us. Our grate is a poor design and gets clogged by yard debris from areas of the neighborhood and caused our area to flood. Tonight we were home to pull the grate to allow for water to recede and not go further into our garage to our house. Would someone please listen to us. We have reported this several times and also in person. We are afraid to be away from our home if there is a serious storm in the area.
Water runoff (consistent, day to day problem), from nearby/ adjoining (possibly restaurant/fine dining businesses) is a visual/ sanitary problem to pedestrians.
two properties above us the road all the water on the road goes into the yard comes down toward are house crossing on road since it is all down hill into the neighbors beside us into my yard. it drains.in front of my garage and runs on my . about 3 to 4 inches of water on my side walk .side walk. also the road south of us also runs in neighbor east of my house also runs runs to my house. South of me there is a a large building about 40 feet long that doesn't have gutters it runs down across the road on neighbors which in turn runs toward my house. II have pictures to send in the mail which I wi8ll need to send you because I don't know how to send them in the mail. I have spent 400.00 to put a ridge to keep from running in my yard. I also had a drain dug in my drive about 4 feet from the fence running about 2 foot deep running toward the drain in the back of my house that cost me 650.00. I will write on the back of the picture that will explain what they are for when I send them thank you and I will write on the back . Also in front of garage my small car is on ramps so the water will not get my brake shoes wet and i have to not park my other car about7 feet from the garage so i can;t park a car behind my car. I have a problem on my property with drainage. The drainage of my property runs off naturally into my neighbor's yard. His address is 3514 Morningside Drive. When a storm comes, his back yard pools and remains there for a few days until it is absorbed into the ground. I discussed with one of the neighbors how this might be resolved and volunteered to help pay for pipes that would carry the water that pools in their yard to the ditch along Morningside Drive. The neighbor didn't think that would work. Now they have dug out a deeper hole in their yard and are installing a "Sponge Garden." My understanding is that this will retain water and will not allow my yard to drain. This area has backed up into my basement in the past and flooded it. It seems to me that this will occur more easily with the installment of the "Sponge Garden." I appeal to the city of Bloomington to send engineers to come and see if there is some way that water can be drained into the ditch along Morningside Drive.

The water runoff from Sare Road travels down McCartney Lane to end in a very small drain that is not large enough to facilitate proper drainage. This photo was from yesterday‘s mild rain. At times the water is much deeper and standing longer because the drain is clogged. A larger drain needs to be installed or possibly an additional drain as well, further up the road. This may be leading to erosion of soil and possibly foundation issues and needs to be addressed soon. We are also due to have our road paved this year so the drainage would need to be fixed prior to that. Please advise.
Storm drain clogged with debris along the street
The drainage ditch behind our property and to the east was never properly engineered to handle all the water from rains and multiple neighborhoods.It overflows and leaves properties too wet to mow for weeks as well as the trees standing in the water are dying and falling which is a dangerous situation for the neighborhood. This standing water is a health and safety hazard as a breeding ground for mosquitoes.And it can not be mowed properly .The neighborhood applied for a grant last year but it was denied.It has been dug out a few years ago by the city but without proper method used to apply rock to maintain the ditch open the problem just re occurs with it growing over and does not stay open to handle the water and it floods again .
