Fire Hazards

Hello,
I own 1112 S Madison St. The electric supply line to my house runs overground, underneath the limbs of a large oak tree. This is a safety hazard as falling limbs may easily down the line and thus set my house on fire.
I've been in communication with Duke energy since February in an attempt to have the supply line put underground. Duke says that ATT first needs to replace the utility pole where my supply line originates. They wouldn't touch the line before the pole is replaced.
I have reported the issue to ATT and requested for the pole to be replaced more than two months ago. ATT is not doing anything about it. My contact person, Randy, originally said it would happen within two weeks, and when I called him again a month later he was surprised that it hadn't happened yet. Two weeks later, again nothing has happened.
My contact people at Bryan at Duke (812 947 3282) and Randy at ATT (317 966 4152).
What can I do when these corporations are unresponsive and not taking steps to replace the pole or put my supply line underground? It is a hazard and needs to be addressed, and I am frustrated by the lack of response or initiative by ATT and DUKE.
Thanks,
Vera Flocke

I saw some neighborhood kids playing on what looked like our neighbors' power or phone box units. The kids were jumping and pushing them and pretending (I think?) to get shocked. One kid looked like he was trying to pull one over. I am concerned that they will get hurt or that a fire will start due to the damage. When I went to tell them to stop, they had run off.

My address is technically 1529 W. 8th. We recently purchased our home and just got all moved in.
In between my house and our neighbors, there is a ton of overgrowth over power lines connected to our homes. We really need someone to come out and clear the area before it becomes a problem. There is also a very large and what seems like a very dead tree on our neighbors property that is over some power lines as well.

It has been reported to me that Beach Tree Apartments, 1724 E. Hillside Dr only have one smoke detector per unit. Each unit is tri-level and should have multiple detectors. The one detector I saw myself was clearly very old and in need of replacement. (This report came into test on 03-07-2013. I inserted it into production on behalf of Scott. -alan)

Neighborhood residents near the White Oak Cemetery and the Westside Cemetery have been experiencing toxic smoke from the hazardous fires taking place in the encampments between Butler Park and N Adams St. The residents believe that the individuals in this encampment are either burning plastic trash, plastic coating of stripped wire, or potentially cooking meth. Residents have reported this issue previously through a uReport, but the fire hazards were not addressed.
To get to the encampment you can enter from the B-line along N. Adams St., next go right at the end of the mesh wire fence (near B-line light post #183), then cross the railroad tracks (heading south), and you will find the well worn trail to the encampment.

Chad Ackerman is a the business owner of Ackerman Auto Detail located at 630 South Patterson Drive. This morning, after coming to work he found that his workplace was full of smoke. This is due to the common occurrence of the homeless population using the space behind his business as a place where they light fires. These fires are uncovered and lead to a very toxic smell. This is a potential danger to the business, employees, customers and city of Bloomington.

My next door neighbor, Carl James, (at 703 W. 7th Street) burns trash and plastic and Styrofoam in his wood stove. The smoke is heavy, black and acrid. It is polluting the air. I think there must be regulations against burning trash like this. We have asked him not to do this and explained to him that it creates toxins in the air. A group of neighbors chipped in and bought him two ricks of wood recently, but his son took most of it and resold it. We do not know what else to do. Can someone from the City talk to him about this? Thank you.
