U Report # 210060
Hi again,
I'm following up from yesterday's U Report. Duke responded immediately with the information that the wire is a cable line. Duke recommended that I get back to my local Bloomington government because since I've owned this house I have never had cable service, therefore I do not know whose line it belongs to. Do you have any record as to who owns/is responsible for this abandoned cable line? And is there a statute of limitations for an abandoned line - can I cut it down myself? What is the risk of danger if I do so?
Any insight that you can provide is appreciated.
Sincerely,
Elida C. Behar

I was walking in this neighborhood Friday evening around 7:30 - and looking at this map - seems to be 2015 E Marilyn Drive - and smelled smoke - the backyard is not visible on Marilyn but while I continued my walk on S Covenanter Drive I had a view of the open fire - I noticed that this appeared to be a recreational fire - but was not in an approved device - such as a fire pit - and it did not appear that there was a bucket of water or a garden hose nearby.

3 fire hydrants in Hearthstone Village covered when City snow plows pushed snow off streets. 3 hydrants in the end of each court, between 1204-1209 and 1312-1310 (Hearthstone) and at the corner of the access road and Bridgestone. The one at 1204-1209 is especially problematic. --see attached pic --there is a hydrant somewhere under that pile of snow!

Smoke detector has been beeping from condo for low battery for weeks. There are 4 condos per building, the windows in unit 708 have been open all summer, and the beep echos in the woods behind. If there is a fire it's feared maybe not all occupants will be notified potentially causing loss of life. The unit seems to be owned and occupied currently, but unsure whether occupant is aware of smoke detectors importance.

This message is for Jeff Yutmeyer about my ongoing issue with the cable touching my garage roof. No one from Xfinity/Comcast has contacted me either by email, text message, or phone. Jeff, we spoke on Wed, April 29th - you called me. The cable is still touching my garage roof. I feel uncomfortable with this situation due to the amount & severity of the Bloomington storms this Spring. Here are the last uReport details:

Fire Hazards

Four hours of smoke now from someone who seems to burn leaves in Stiers Park (sort of a tiny gated community). The location is right near High Street and Viva. And has to be awful for people just east of the burn. Two houses to the north, we get a lot of smoke in our windows. Everything withing a quarter mile has a smoke smell.
It may have been the same household last weekend. And in previous years.
My understanding is that burning is not permitted in Bloomington (and most municipalities), except for pit fires.
I wasn't sure whether to report it to the Fire Dept. or Police. It is a health hazard. It is also a nuisance. And though it seems to be tended, it's not the safest thing in the world.
