A tree planted by the city a few years ago was damaged by the storm today, June 25 2023. A large branch has fallen, blocking the sidewalk. It is too large for us to move. The city will have to remove it and probably plant a new tree.
The city trees between the sidewalk and street lower branches are in the way of walkers and some are dead and brittle posing a safety issue for pedestrians.

The tree in question is located on city land outside of my property boundary at 1301 W. 8th Street in Bloomington. The broken limb is specifically situated at the intersection of Adams Street and 8th Street, where there is a significant amount of pedestrian traffic. The footpath visible in the attached picture is frequently used by pedestrians crossing from the sidewalk on Adams Street onto 8th Street. The presence of the broken tree limb in this area creates a potential safety hazard for pedestrians. Additionally, there is a slight concern that the broken limb obstructs the view of the Adams Street bridge for drivers turning right onto Adams Street from Fountain. This obstruction may affect the visibility of oncoming traffic, potentially leading to traffic incidents or delays. I kindly request that the relevant department of Bloomington takes immediate action to address this issue. It is crucial to ensure the safety of pedestrians and motorists in the area by removing the broken tree limb and conducting any necessary tree maintenance or inspection. The trees in the city tree plot on this street are blocking parking spaces and making sidewalk travel nearly impossible.
Regarding ticket #181157, the trees are in the tree plot, the area between street and the sidewalk. Are you sure that's IU responsibility?
The red maple tree (site id 30159?), along the street at 2320 E Woodbine Ave. is not healthy and is becoming a hazard. The top of the tree and many branches are dead. This evening (2/16/23) a large limb fell out of the tree and onto the sidewalk. I tried to attach a photo of the large limb, branches and debris on the sidewalk, but it keeps processing and won't go through. We have cleared the debris and limb from the sidewalk.
Several new street trees were planted when the sidewalk on South Maxwell St. was added earlier this year (or maybe late last year). Some of them aren't looking in great shape anymore. I'm also confused because they were generally planted right under the power lines, which seems like it will be an issue at some point.
Large pin oak tree has large horizontal limbs that are dead and overhangs a big traffic light and sidewalk. This poses a danger to the traffic light, to cars in the intersection, and to pedestrians on the sidewalk. Please remove these dead limbs as soon as possible. Thank you.
