Light on south side of house is completely unshielded and causes glare and trespass on neighboring property. This nuisance light interferes with circadian rhythms of insects and pollinators. Garden produce is incompletely pollinated due to bright lights at night. Please enforce this.

My whole bedroom is lit up from the nuisance light next-door that is in violation of the City of Bloomington code, yet there is no enforcement. There is light trespass as well as glare from the unshielded light which has a totally exposed element. Please enforce with all owners of this property.

The nuisance light on the south side is so bright it is this visible in bright daylight on a sunny day, over a meter in from the property line. At night it exceeds the criteria for light trespass in the municipal code: ii. Light Trespass. I live directly across from the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity house and the light on their property shines directly into my bedroom window at night and on my head where I sleep. I was hoping it could be possible to make them turn them off? There is nobody living at the house right now so I am unsure how to go about asking them myself.
There is a nuisance light in a box attached to pole 814 6521 on Morton Street in the narrow greenway between the B-line and Morton, opposite the driveway to the all red house next to the Bloomington Center for Connection. It creates glare all over the neighborhood and directly into my house. It is not part of the street light system. I have photos on my phone but don't know how to attach them to this file. It is left on all night, and illuminates neighboring property even through room darkening curtains. This is in violation of city code: (5) Glare. All lighting fixtures shall be installed so as not to cause glare at or beyond the property line and shall not be aimed toward traffic. (A) Shielding. i. All lighting fixtures, except motion detector-activated lighting, shall be fully shielded so that the lighting element is not visible to an observer at any property line, except as stated otherwise in this Section 20.04.090 (Outdoor Lighting). ii. Unless otherwise specified, all lighting fixtures shall be full cutoff type as installed. iii. A lighting fixture may beam light upward only if all upward light is reflected back down by a canopy, roof, or other such structure. Please ticket and enforce. Also full trash cans are left out all week.
