Dead racoon on the inner sidewalk overhanging the Vietnam vet memorial
Dead racoon on the inner sidewalk overhanging the Vietnam vet memorial
Heard the guy renting (Nick Robinson) bragging about how he always keeps his 4 dogs outside outback, and barely feeds them. *The attachment is him saying he hates dogs. Not sure if he was serious, but was hoping someone could stop by.
Home is on double lot, was in tough shape inside and out; took two years to sell due to condition (initial asking 450,000 sold at 170,600) but finally sold a few months ago. Seller moved out; Neighbors have no info on who bought it but assume investors who will tear down to build 2 new homes. We are writing on behalf of all surrounding neighbors. City did arrange for lawn to finally be mowed (thank you!) but there are other more serious issues: 1. A backyard in ground pool no longer has required fencing in yard and pool cover has come off, water is green/moldy. No fencing hazard for wandering children playing, animals but we are concerned about mosquitoes, etc. 2. All sorts of large pieces of siding are flapping all day long in the wind. In storms the sound can be heard houses away and we all are waiting for the day they rip off and come flying down! 3. A fox family has nested in home - literally underneath 1010 from several entries all around (may be inside?) There are five in total (mom with 4 kits - all now full size) They play around pool area and romp in yard which is lovely to watch but now when it means they are leaving rabbit, bird, animal carcasses all over this property and in our yards. Wildlife told us that any neighbor can pay for trapping them as they won't move them. Seriously - all of us?! Fox family are now going after neighborhood cats, and having growling matches with dogs being walked, especially in the evening. Again, they are absolutely beautiful to watch but not the right habitat. Our daily lives are affected by their habitat next door. No owner name to contact for any of us to ask them to clean up carcasses which also now cause more insect issues - ticks, fleas, mosquito, flies in addition to moldy pool water. Some of us have started piling carcasses up in one place on property. The irony here is that the original owner was Bruce Jennings ... who worked in HAND Dept. for many years before passing away. :-( Thanks for anything you can do. Suggestion to add: New owners would be smart to reach out to all on the street to introduce themselves and help us learn more about their plans. We have lived here forty years; this block is a tight knit, close group of caring neighbors who are reasonable and look forward to new plans for 1010! Thank you. (we have a lot of photos if that is helpful but the narrative seems to sum it up)
For the past few weeks there have been dogs roaming free in this area. I have nearly hit them in the street a couple times and one actually did get hit by a car a few days ago. I think they belong to the big red house in this block. They don't appear to follow and leash or restraint requirements. I am concerned for the animal's continued safety.
A deer is dead in front of this house in our neighborhood. It looks like it's been mauled to death. Neighbors heard animals screeching outside around 3:40am. The deer body, bones, and organs are all over the side of the road/sidewalk/and these people's driveway. Not sure if the city can help get it cleaned up.
My neighbors have a large black labrador that is often off lease on the street. Is comes running at me in my backyard barking and growling. I have managed to shout and scream at it to get it to go away but it keeps scaring me and my guests. It has also caused a previous problem by chasing a delivery driver who was coming to my house. I spoke to my landlord about this and both he and I have spoken to the dog's owner. He says that he can't do anything about it because the dog escapes out the door and he then tries to get it back but I am unsatisfied with this response. I should not be terrorized in my own backyard and now feel I can't have any guests over because the dog will end up scaring them. I know that there are leash laws in Bloomington and that the dog cannot be off leash like this but I'm not sure what to do to stop it.
My neighbors at 103 E Southern Drive leave their large dog outside, off-leash all the time. That dog runs loose and into the yards of my two rental properties just across the street on E Southern Dive. The dog terrorizes my tenants who cannot safely spend time outside or even walk to their car in the driveway because of the dog, barking and plunging at them. The neighbors refuse to leash their dog before letting him outside. Both my tenants and I have already approached them and their answer is that the dog just runs out the door. They could let the dog run at Switchyard park just steps away, but they refuse to leash it and have no qualms about their dog terrorizing the neighbors. Please make them stop!
There is a dead skunk in the road near Bloomington Paint & Wallpaper on Grimes Ln.
A cat was hit by a car around 7:40 this morning next to the bus stop by Woodbridge Apartments.
I couldn't reach anyone with Animal Control. There is an owl that appears sick or injured on Forrest Ave. close to 14st. He is by the fire hydrant between two large trees on Forrest. He is not moving when approached. Thanks Jill.
