Hello.
I am a regular user of the Bloomington Rail Trail. I love the trail, however, recently the trail was altered in a way that is dangerous and less than ideal for running, walking, and biking.
The original surface was recently disturbed with new material which was applied unevenly and makes it hazardous or impossible to run and bike on. I have seen several minor accidents and suspect more are occurring. I know several in the fitness community that are unhappy with the recent changes to the trail.
I would appreciate any info on why this change was made and if there are any plans to improve the situation.
Thank you!

Hello,
My name is Jacob and I am a Recreation Supervisor with Lee’s Summit Parks and Recreation in Missouri. We are conducting a review of our current Inclement Weather Policies and are reaching out to various other departments around the country. We are looking for any information regarding the following:
• Weather Policies regarding Extreme Heat and Lightning during outside events and activities.
• Methods used to detect lightning (Weather Apps, Specific Equipment such as lightning detectors, Payed services)
• If you have separate policies for different facilities. (i.e. Outdoor pools, Amphitheaters, Outdoor fields and Sports complexes)
Any information that you could provide would be greatly appreciated. I can be reached at jacob.johnson@cityofls.net or 816-969-1544.
Thank you,

At East Thornton Drive and Covey Lane, there are several big old trees whose branches overhang Covey Lane, and the big branches are rotten and some have already fallen, but the limbs that hang over Covey Lane are dangerous to pedestrians walking their dogs and cars using Covey Lane. Can you please look into this and have the limbs and/or tree cut so that no one will get hurt or property damaged by falling limbs. Every time a hard rain comes or storm with light wind come, large limbs fall onto Covey Lane. Thank you.

People have been camping in the shelter houses at 9th St. Park for several weeks, if not months. I've been reluctant to officially report it but over the last week it's become a bit more permanent. And also a bit unruly.

Hello, I love the new look and feel of your website, but I'm having trouble signing up for a fall Parks and Rec program. I got the brochure in the mail over the weekend, but any documentation for classes is either for summer or for fall 2017. When do you expect for this to be updated with fall 2018 information?

A tree limb and vines around a couple of wires leading to a phone pole. The vines are pulling the wires down. I am on home dialysis and my supplies come on a semi every other week. The truck almost pulled them down, since they are so low. Acutally that whole south side of the tree needs cut back, the City normally does that but hasn't this year.
Thank you for your time.

I'm wondering if there's been any thoughts about developing a mountain biking loop around lake griffy? I'm sure that we could get some volunteer and local business support for building and maintaining something and maybe work with the university on a mtb'ing club who could also be trail stewards. Additionally, maybe some trail connectivity through that area could enable realistic bike commuting to Marlin Elementary. I don't think anyone wants to take their child on a bike down Griffy dam hill or old 37. I would be interested in meeting with someone and getting back into public service if a champion of the idea was needed. Thanks!

It looks like someone has driven some equipment down the paved trail that goes through Renwick subdivision next to Southeast Park, clearing out brush on each side. At first we were thinking it was to aid construction of the unfinished houses down there (with a really dangerous culvert, but that's another issue) but it continues past that site. We thought someone might be clearing out the invasive honeysuckle, but it seemed awfully haphazard for that; there are several small trees that are broken and damaged. They could be widening the trail, but there's no need for that. I think the trail itself belongs to the Parks Foundation. Do you know what is going on down there? Thanks!
