Once again the police have had to come into our area, following a street fight along the sidewalk between our homes. Just 2 nights ago shots were being fired less than 12ft. from my grandson's bedroom at 1am on that sidewalk. Police did find 1 of the 6 teens. Yesterday the fight landed two young adults in my driveway seeking refuge from an out of control violent young man. I'm disabled on crutches, and when I tried to stop the attacker from coming on my property he threatened serious harm to me and my grandson. Just before it got deadly, police with a K-9 arrived. Thank you BPD. The cut-thru sidewalk has become a danger and a menace to all of us and it is used mainly for bad activity. It needs to be closed, and the broken steps up to 12th street need to go. Many of us are elderly, disabled, and tired of these constant problems. City leaders NEED to come and see this area, and the trash, broken steps, empty drug needles, etc. We need help beyond having to call BPD all the time. Please take this seriously before someone is not just assaulted again, but perhaps shot. 2 gun incidents this spring is 2 too many. Thank You.

Found a drug needle on the sidewalk on North Madison across from Bloomington foods, on the sidewalk of that photo restoration company or whatever. Also, across the street from there in the bushes where Chase Bank drive-in used to be, there are a ton of clothes and old junk hiding in the bushes that has been there for months.

Our next door neighbor wanted us to shovel snow away from their mailbox since the snow was plowed in a pile in front of it. It was assumed my son's car was parked in the cul de sac however he hasn't parked there when severe weather hits. I am not in the best of the health to shovel it away. Can someone from the city just plow it away from their mailbox and to the right of their driveway where no one parks? I mean the best to the city plow services but the neighbors think its our responsibility to shovel it and I beg to differ. Please direct me on this issue. They are a relatively young middle aged couple and are quite capable of handling this without blaming us. Deepest regards, Stacy

Hello, At 7:30am, someone began jack-hammering the sidewalk immediately outside my apartment window at 222 N College Ave. There are several apartments facing that sidewalk at this location, and it is directly across the street from the Hilton Hotel. In other words, since many people may be trying to sleep in this area, it seems a bit unreasonable to start something so loud before 8am. Thanks for your attention to this matter. My next door neighbors at 2100 W 106th St have a bush in the grass area between side walk & street that grows high & wide & blocks the view from driveway to see the traffic on 106th St. It's a busy street & difficult to pull out & back out as is, but with the neighbors bush it makes it even more difficult. It blinds the view and we are concerned of getting in an accident because of it. For last few years it's grown taller & wider & we even talked to the neighbors about it about 1 1/2 yrs ago, but they didn't seem to think it was an issue & did nothing about it. I don't want to be a disgruntled neighbor, but also do not want to get in a car accident from the blinding view, trying to leave my driveway. It is very frustrating. I would like to know what the rules are for planting trees, bushes or plants on the section of grass between the sidewalk & street is & if the neighbors could be requested to remove or trim down the bush.

Washington & Cottage Grove -- Miller Pipeline construction crew left their equipment blocking the sidewalk after they left for the day on Friday afternoon. This will probably remain on the sidewalk until they return on Monday morning. This seems like a substantial safety hazard, and extremely inconsiderate since they have the sidewalk on the other side of the street all torn up.

Dear Mayor Hamilton and the city of Bloomington, I am contacting you and your office regarding the problem with the deer in our neighborhood. Once again, the deer are a problem for us and they are outright dangerous. I am not sure what the city is planning on doing with the problem, but I almost feel like I want to hire a sniper (and I am an animal lover) to get them off of our property or now purchase a BB gun. I am not a violent person, but I am at my wits end regarding this issue. Will the city only do something once a deer kills a child? I have heard of stories of dogs being killed by deer as well as homes being trashed by deer who have somehow gotten into somebody's home. The latest is that my wife got a broken ankle because of a deer and it required a trip to the ER at Bloomington hospital along with missed work for both of us. Luckily we have health insurance, but for those who don't...it is a very expensive endeavor that could have been avoided if the city would do something to cull these animals. Lately we have seen a herd of 8 deer roaming around Somax. I would like your opinion on how you plan to fix this problem because I do see this as a problem in our city and especially our neighborhood. Also, I heard that the city has a 2 million dollar surplus this year and wondered if that meant we would finally get the sidewalk and repair of the dangerous culvert that has been promised to the former owners of our house as well as to us. Our taxes go up every year (Judy Sharp just assessed another increas of $50,000 to our home value which raised our taxes again quite drastically). We can't seem to ever get a break from her with her assessments every year and it is quite frustrating. Every year we pay more and more taxes and get absolutely nothing for it. Saw someone yell at/harass a city employee for being properly pulled over with flashing lights and hazards while picking up trash signage along the road and in sidewalk area after the storm, and now that everything has calmed down I wanted to report that here. As a resident, I would like to know that the administration is supporting these civil servants that are overworked and underpaid and doing the tiring, thankless work that administrations and councils make their jobs. Are you all making it clear to those bad actors in town that behavior such as that is not tolerated? With doxing online and such short tempers, things seem to only continue to escalate with those who are displeased with government in general. Are the City workers we need being protected in their day to day? I would like to thank those cleaning up the roads, reducing needless signage and trash, and ensuring everything stays clean and out of the storm system. All those many groups residents see out every day seem to go unnoticed but are so crucial to maintaining Bloomington. Thanks for your consideration and time.
