The new traffic light's timing is too short for traffic traveling east/west on Bloomfield Road. At best it stays green for 20 seconds before switching to red to let 1 or two cars from the Sportsplex/Millennium Apartment's go. Traffic westbound is worse than it was before the installation of the light, somehow.
New stop light at Rolling Ridge way had traffic on 2nd street backed up to The Eye Center at 5:10pm. Usually takes around 10 minutes for me to get home it was 20 due to the poor timing of the new light. There was a time around 5:20pm where the light was only green going down 2nd street for a minute before it turned red. Safety concern as well for ambulances trying to get down 2nd street (especially by the co-op where there is cement barriers in the middle of the road). Will be a huge concern when 37 (I-69) 2nd street ramps under construction in a few months.
New light at intersection of w. 2nd and Twin lakes rec center is too short and causing major delays to the east.
The new stop light on second street at the Sports Complex is causing traffic to back up in both directions at 8 am and 5 pm. If the light were to be flashing during those heavy traffic times, it would be a tremendous help. I work at the IMA building on Landmark Ave. I couldn't even get out of the parking lot for 10 minutes last evening. It took another 10 minutes to get to the stop light. This is not acceptable. Good Evening, Since the light at Ridgeway (I'm pretty sure that's the st, it's right in front of Twin Lakes Gym) and 2nd Street started working on Monday traffic in the morning, but especially in the evening, has been horrendous on 2nd St. It is now currently taking me about 40 minutes to get from the IU Campus to Eller Rd when leaving campus around 5:15. Traffic is bumper to bumper from 2nd and Rogers until after the new light. I feel like this is not just a ridiculous amount of traffic for a city the size of Bloomington, but that it is creating dangerous traffic situations. I'm afraid it's going to cause accidents. New traffic light installed on second street at twin lakes. Specifically in the morning during rush hour (7:00-8:00), traffic that is heading east on second street backs up because of it. Traffic can be backed up all the way to the other traffic light at Basswood Dr. The light changes quickly to allow 1 vehicle to come out of Millenium Apts but doesn't change back quickly to allow the traffic to flow on second street.
I want to thank the city for installing traffic lights at the exit of Twin Lakes Rec Center, at the intersection of Bloomfield Rd and Rolling Ridge Dr. They are a big help to me when I need to make a left turn from the TLRC. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
I work for IU Campus Bus Service. Saturday, we were driving a special service that necessitated that we use the new portion of Woodlawn Avenue. (Once the railroad crossing is complete, buses will go up and down Woodlawn Avenue from the Stadium to Campus and back about 70 times a day during the week.) I noticed that a vehicle was parked on Woodlawn just north of 14th St. on the east side of the street blocking the bike lane, but mostly out of the lane of car traffic. I also noticed there are no "No Parking" signs on this new stretch of Woodlawn. Can those be added to prevent people from parking here? Thank you.
Location 1008 E Thornton Dr.; Public safety/ traffic/ residential parking issue: Large amount of shoulder stone has eroded away due to to water run off from the street. Creating a large rut and beginning to undermine the edge of the steets pavement. (avg. 50'x1'x1') with the stone being washed towards Henderson St. then into the storm sewer system. This issue has been reported on multiple occasions over the last year by multiple residents.
At the corner of East Third Street and Jordan Avenue, why are there no crosswalks painted in the street for pedestrians crossing Third Street? It seems very odd that there are pedestrian signals telling pedestrians when they may cross, but no pavement markings showing them WHERE to cross.
