Excessive Growth

714 N Walnut ST

Case Date:
9/3/2014

Residential properties behind the High Point commercial property at 702 N Walnut have been having constant issues with poison ivy all summer, as well as last summer. It is constantly spreading into our backyards from the High Point property. I've reported this issue to HAND several times this summer, yet the property has still not been cleaned up (or it is cleaned up once, and then promptly ignored again.) At what point can this go to the Board of Public Works for abatement?

Biking & Walking

Bloomington Rail Trail

Case Date:
9/3/2014

Please consider adding a ramp connecting the B-Line to Adams Street at the north end of the trail; this would make transitioning to the street from the trail (and vice versa) a lot more convenient and easier for cyclists.

Graffiti

851-875 North Rogers Street

Case Date:
9/2/2014

Hi again, you know its me ;-) The graffiti is back on the overpass on Rogers just north of the Rogers and 11th St. intersection. Places that were cleaned up have graffiti painted over them. There is the word "ORDEAL" written on the west wall and various other fresh taggings that really mean nothing to me except they are ugly. This area of town is in an ascension period and this overpass will probably need to be watched carefully. I will help. You don't need to contact me when you have had time to touch it up. You do an excellent job with this site.

Potholes, Other Street Repair

416-498 West 11th Street

Case Date:
9/2/2014

A utility cut was made at this intersection west of Upland Brewing. The work appears to be completed, but the repair of the cut leaves the cut edges too high causing severe stress to my cars suspension even if I try to go over it slowly. When will this intersection either be repaved of the utility cut filled in so that the pavement is smoother going over it? Thank you for your fine (and I go mean it) work.

Parks & Playgrounds

Case Date:
9/2/2014

To whom it may concern: I was dismayed to read in this morning's hotline that roundup is used in our parks and around our trails. Yes, this is the roundup civilians can buy in stores; however, that does not mean it is safe. I thought Bloomington was a progressive place on the cutting edge of environmental concerns - apparently not. Any amount of poison applied to our earth is dangerous to people and animals, among others. And when we have rains, the roundup runs off into our water systems. Look at all of the drains on streets which sport little stickers saying don't put any hazardous materials down the drains. Well, you are. Let's think about the big picture. What is more important - having a safe environment in which we can be on the grass, drink safe water, etc. or getting rid of a few weeds, which, by the way, are also part of our creation. I know there are invasive weeds, but surely there are safer ways to eradicate them than by spraying them with poison that is hazardous to everything. You say you have professionals applying these poisons - I don't believe that makes the substance any safer. I hope you will consult various organic farmers and landscapers in the area for advice before applying any more roundup. Thank you. Anne Fraker
