Traffic Related Complaints

Case Date:
8/26/2014

We have contacted the street department 4 times now on this prob. At the end of Tudor lane and aloe dale there is a sink hole in the road that constantly has red clay wet mud approximately 4 feet in diameter around it. Red clay water runs almost a block downhill. The hole has been patched but eons up again. It is not a pot hole but is caving in. We as a neighborhood have to either pull out into the opposite lane of traffic or go through red wet mud. Please direct my email to appropriate person. I had notified u earlier this summer and they said they would send a supervisor out. This is probably 4-5 month on going. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Blocked Street

Case Date:
8/27/2014

The public sidepath between Southdowns and Greenwood Avenue is blocked by overgrown plants. This is a walk-to-school route, used by people with strollers and at least one person in a wheelchair. Walkers are currently trampling the adjacent yard in order to avoid the plants. The plants are growing from the garden of Mr. Sagarin, who you may remember sued the council over the path, so I hesitate to contact him directly. Please resolve this urgently. Thank you. David Stringer (Rogers/Binford Safe Routes to School Committee).

Excessive Growth

Case Date:
8/29/2014

The homeowner at 3860 S. Mill Stone Way is habitually negligent in the maintenance of their yard. Only mowed it once since I reported them 2 months ago. The back yard slope has not yet been mowed this year. On the south side of the house there is a small pile of brush that's been there for months that has a snake living in it. Please help. My daughter is afraid to play in the yard with so many places for wild animals to hide in their grass. This is an eyesore for the entire neighborhood. Thank you!

To whom it may concern: I was dismayed to read in this morning's hotline that roundup is used in our parks and around our trails. Yes, this is the roundup civilians can buy in stores; however, that does not mean it is safe. I thought Bloomington was a progressive place on the cutting edge of environmental concerns - apparently not. Any amount of poison applied to our earth is dangerous to people and animals, among others. And when we have rains, the roundup runs off into our water systems. Look at all of the drains on streets which sport little stickers saying don't put any hazardous materials down the drains. Well, you are. Let's think about the big picture. What is more important - having a safe environment in which we can be on the grass, drink safe water, etc. or getting rid of a few weeds, which, by the way, are also part of our creation. I know there are invasive weeds, but surely there are safer ways to eradicate them than by spraying them with poison that is hazardous to everything. You say you have professionals applying these poisons - I don't believe that makes the substance any safer. I hope you will consult various organic farmers and landscapers in the area for advice before applying any more roundup. Thank you. Anne Fraker

I would like to compliment the Parking Enforcement for being able to ticket for an expired meter within 6 minutes of the expiration of the time. I saw the parking officer walking away as I approached. It was almost as remarkable of a job well done as the time this last winter when I received a ticket at 9:46 pm on a weekend night that I was 3 minutes late getting back to my car. the latter ticket was more impressive based on the fact that is was on a dark area of the block and there were no other cars parked on the whole block. That person was making money for the Town to the very end. I am impressed with how the City helps you always want to watch the clock when visiting downtown. Also, the City has renewed my interest in collecting coins. I am also impressed by the subliminal attempt to have people visiting the City to seek out establishments and restaurants that do not have parking meters in front of them. Well done! I also had a complaint I would liked to have lodged about visiting Bloomington downtown but just noticed this compliment box as the only means of communication.. so I just stuck with the compliments!
