I'm writing with a suggestion. I spend quite a bit of time walking and running within Bloomington. Outside of the B-line (where my experience has been mixed), I find that car drivers rarely yield to pedestrians and marked pedestrian crosswalks. I wanted to suggest that the city consider adding flashing lights to the signage at crosswalks, in the hope that it would make drivers aware they're approaching a crosswalk, and be more likely to yield to pedestrians. Thank you for the completion of the Sare Rd pedestrian path! Just outstanding! We who live in Hyde Park can now safely cross the street and access the neighborhoods and parks on the west side of the road and connect to Southeast Park! Wonderful!

The intersection of Adams and Kirkwood badly needs left turn signals. My wife and I deliver Meals on Wheels once a month. Our route has us coming down Adams from the north, and then turning eastward on Kirkwood. More than once we’ve found that turn difficult. Mostly it has been large streams of traffic coming toward us, making it hard to turn left. The worst has been when there seemed to be no traffic, but as we were ready to turn left, a car came fast up the hill toward us, and it was not visible until the last minute. Please fix this problem!

Reported by Joanne Freeman to me. Unfinished AT&T fiber project started last summer has left exposed conduit, foot-deep holes and sand fill in rights of way (meaning grass doesn't grow). She wants City inspectors to contact Michael or Sharon Dalton who are the property managers for the subdivision to get this situation addressed. AT&T has been unresponsive to neighborhood contact. As you may know, the cable installers are back at work in the Winslow Farms neighborhood (after leaving it uncompleted for well over a year), and they are inflicting significant damage on properties. We came home to find piles of dirt and rock, a new ground box not flush with the ground, and significant damage far up into our lawn from their boring machine--way beyond the utility easement. Further, their work is damaging sidewalks-both cracking the concrete and pushing it up to create tripping hazards. They were rude to our neighbor who confronted them about these issues. Further, they indicated that they were going to trench back between the houses on Azalea, across the conservancy area, to Bayberry. I would like to talk with someone from the city about this excessive damage, how far back onto our property they are allowed to bring their construction equipment before it becomes trespassing, what is an acceptable expectation/timeline for repairs to our lawn, and what sort of plans they may have for trenching back between our houses and across a conservancy area. They posted announcements of their work AFTER they began and a neighbor complained. Please contact me when you can to discuss the ongoing damage this company is doing to our properties and neighborhood.

The cover of one of the new boxes in the ground for the fiber optic cable is off. This makes a deep hole about 1.5 x 3 feet that a small child or dog could step into.

Gas? Workers dug up multiple parts of my lawn and driveway. This was two weeks ago. They said they were going to come back and fix everything but obviously that hasn’t happened. In the dirt is ground pieces of the old driveway including baseball sized chunks. We are also selling the house so this is hiring our home value - no one wants to buy a house with a broken chunk of driveway.
