On the sidewalk on the corner of 8th and Washington, there is a square stone block embedded in the sidewalk. It is a tripping hazard. I have stumbled on it twice and this second time I broke my toe. I am not sure what it’s doing there, but it is immovable. It is on 8th St, beside the Stone Mansion on the corner.
The sidewalk in front of this complex (Townhouses on 10th) does not have ramps, just curbs, to cross the driveway to the complex. There is also a sunken area east of the complex entrance that is completely buried in dirt now (I'm not sure if it is on their property or on Woodbridge's, it is between). This makes it very difficult to walk through this area with a stroller and also makes it inaccessible to anyone unable to step down or up on a curb (and when it rains, the dirt-covered area turns into mud and gets pretty slick). There are some other areas that have shifted so the sidewalk is no longer even as well.
Heavy, metal sign support with three sandbags has been sitting on the sidewalk for weeks. It blocks wheelchairs and is hazardous at night. Please ask whatever department that left it there to remove it. Thank you.
The sidewalk on the NE corner of Forrest and 11 is not accessible. It has a severely steep grade and bank (one corner is much higher than the opposite). I would not travel along the block on the North side of 11 between Forrest and Walnut Grove because of it.
The sidewalk on 7th street between Walnut and College is still covered in snow and ice. Most people are walking across the Taco Bell parking lot and cutting across the landscaping at One City Center in order to reach the One City Center building b/c that way is easier to walk on than the icy sidewalk. It would be greatly appreciated if the sidewalk could be cleared. the other sidewalks in this area are already clear and clean. Thank you!
Unsafe walking conditions on sidewalk due to lack of snow and ice removal
At the NW corner of the intersection of 12th and Fess, there is a relatively new, ADA-compliant sidewalk/curb installation. There may be physical and/or legal reasons for having the center, raised concrete portion present, but it is not obvious and as a result is a trip hazard. We have tripped on it several times. There is a current project at the same intersection, so we were hoping that they could redo it or at least paint the section yellow so that it stands out. It is dangerous the way it is now.
About 20ft back from the southwest corner of 8th and Washington (between the street and the sidewalk) there is the bottom/stump of what was maybe a parking sign. If moving to the side to allow someone to pass on sidewalk or more likely someone getting out of the passenger side of a car could injure themselves, especially at night. Please remove or replace. Can the sidewalk at xxx East 7th Street be shaved down to eliminate the height difference between the two adjoining slabs? See photo attached. This height difference can be dangerous for westbound cyclists riding on the sidewalk who need to negotiate both a quick right turn and a left turn to enter the SR46 underpass. Now that an asphalt multi-use path has been built at Relato Bloomington at the intersection of Pete Ellis Drive and Longview Avenue, westbound cyclists are more apt to ride on the path/sidewalk vs. the street, and will continue to ride on the sidewalk all the way to the underpass. Cyclists will be going at speed since it is downhill westbound. To negotiate this sidewalk height disparity, while at the same time negotiating a sweeping turn, poses a dangerous situation that can be easily eliminated.
Hello, I am writing to inquire about whether the sidewalk on the east side of S. Jackson St. between 3rd and 4th streets can be repaired. As a person with a visual impairment, I have a terrible time walking on the sidewalk in this location, which is in the block where my house is. The sidewalk is very uneven, with tripping hazards throughout its course due to decay. If I didn't have a visual impairment, it would certainly be easier to walk on this part of the sidewalk, but I know that others with no visual impairment also have a difficult time because of the deteriorated surface.
