Hello, I'm a second-year tenant of a house on S Woodlawn Ave. The walk home at night is very dangerous because there are no street lights once you get south of Atwater Ave. As a larger man, I luckily do not have to worry as much as about being abducted by any predators. However, I still worry about getting struck by a car because of the lack of visibility on the streets and sidewalks. We have guests that are women that fear coming to our house at night because of how dark the street gets and they could easily be abducted in the dark. My roommates and I often find ourselves having to walk guests to Atwater for them to feel safe. It is a public safety issue and I'm requesting that street lights are installed on Woodlawn Ave for a minimum of 5 blocks south of Atwater. Woodlawn is a highly trafficked area not only by cars, but pedestrians too. I'm a policy analysis major and would love to be involved in any research or implementation needed to solve this issue. I Googled "Bloomington Rail Trail" and it shows up under the City Parks Department, as I thought was the case. So, I am submitting this report for the City, even though it is along a County road. The crossing of the Rail Trail at Rogers street south of Gordon Pike and north of That Road (which road? That Road) is overgrown on the southeast side of the crossing. When driving on Rogers from the south headed north, it is difficult to see the trail and trail users on the east side of Rogers. People drive fast on this part of Rogers. Can the city clean up this line of sight issue so people are safer crossing the road? Thanks.
