Since the storm Friday night, our toilets and sink are gurgling and not flushing well. We have a manhole in front of our house and another one next door at the corner of Rock Creek and Montclair. It seems like we have a clog from that storm. The neighbors across the street are having the same issue. Thank you.
Dear Madam/Sir, I am writing to report an issue concerning the curb and storm drain located at the southern end of Stratford Dr, in front of our residence (3020 S Stratford Dr, Bloomington IN, 47401). The curb is currently obstructed by leaves, twigs, and organic sediment (as shown in the attached photo), impeding effective drainage during rainfall. As a result, our front yard experiences flooding with every rain shower. We kindly request that the curb and its immediate surroundings be thoroughly cleaned to restore proper drainage functionality. A fairly deep depression suddenly formed in the pavement in the street in front of our house. It currently not very large in diameter, and it is very close to the edge of the road, so I’m not sure it’s that much of a hazard to cars. But it could become a problem If it continues to grow.
The issue occured in Winslow Woods Creek during native habitat restoration in the creek running north to south between Aug 3, 2023 and Aug 4, 2023. The Urban Greenspace volunteer Weed Wrangle team were working in a dry creek on Thursday Aug 3 pulling Japanese stiltgrass between 8am to 10am. On our return Friday morning Aug 4, 8am to 10am, we found the creek saturated, pools of water in some areas, our pulled weeds banked in small dams, all indicating a flood had occurred during the 24 hour period. It did not rain during this period. I called CBU 812 339 1444, on Aug 4, at 1:44pm, to ask if a water main had been discharged during the time in question. No one has returned my call. In January 2023, while an optic cable was being installed on our street, the company called Vertical Underground LLC, which we were informed was contracted by the City of Bloomington to do the job, broke our sewer line (along with the lines of many others of our neighbors). We complained to one of Vertical Underground's managers who was working on fixing our neighbor's line, and he informed us that they would fix the problem and that we didn't need to worry. In order to do the repair, they had to break through our concrete driveway to repair the damage and re-pour the damaged section of the driveway. The problem seemed to be fixed for a few months, however, these past weeks, we have been experiencing the same issues that initially led us to the discovery of the damage they caused. That is, our drains are not draining, toilets are not draining and water is returning through the shower drain. We would like to request that CBU send someone to inspect the situation because we believe that the problem was not fixed properly. Thank you.
Wednesday, August 9 The catch basin on the west side of the street just north of where the Indiana Rail Road crosses Pete Ellis Drive seems to be plugged somewhere underneath the road. Debris doesn’t pile up on the grate the way it used to, and the large puddle I observed after this afternoon’s thunderstorm was draining only slowly. Water coming up from this area is staying on the street drainage. It seems to be worse since the crews recently came through to install fiber. I see multiple reports on this issue have been made but there's water there now that could be tested.

The ditch between my driveway and the adjoining driveway is clogged with dirt and debris that I want removed. I can do it, but I don't want to encroach on a neighbor's land or the City of Bloomington land without permission. the ditch is not on the pavement but may lie within the City's right-of-way, and I may need your permission or guidance to clear the drainage ditch and empty the culvert underneath my driveway. Is University Street an easement or a fee title? We also have a dead ash tree a yard from the pavement on the lot line, probably due to the Asian emerald ash borer, an invasive pest, and I have other live ash trees that I would protect. What are the rules for removing the hazard tree?
