Multiple missing sidewalk pavement stones and drain cover. Broken pavement. This has been in disrepair for years. WHEN will this be repaired? This hazardous sidewalk is a block away from where MILLIONS of dollars were spent for the little-used “7-Line” bike lane. Suggest sidewalk priority.
Hi, there is a crosswalk across Kinser Pike between 2 sets of apartment buildings. The sidewalk ends here, so people have to cross the street to get to the bus stop, gas station, or grocery store. There have been a few times where people have been crossing the street at night in dark colors and it has been impossible to see them until you have just enough time to brake. I think a street light or a crossing light is necessary to prevent a pedestrian incident in the future.
Unsafe walking conditions on sidewalk due to lack of snow and ice removal
Near the sidewalk toward the parking lot (where it rounds to drive back around), there is a large hole that is difficult to see. Last evening, I stepped in it and rolled my ankle. I wanted to share so no one else gets hurt. I am happy to help locate it with photos are meeting someone there. I didn't have a chance to take a photo as I could barely walk and wasn't focused on the safety thoughts in the future.
About .5 mile into the rail trail is a large homeless camp (off Country Club) from the entrance. The sites continue to grow & pop up. There are multiple concerns with this. 1. Contamination with the water by litter, human waste, & drug paraphernalia. 2. Affects to wild life through trash & humans inhabiting their homes. 3. Land is affected by litter & drug paraphernalia such as glass pipes & needles. 4. There are safety concerns with children playing in the creek due to human waste & drug paraphernalia being in the water, they could get diseases from contaminated needles or step on glass pipes. 5. This is a dangerous location for the homeless as they are in a flash flood location. It has completely flooded out on 2020 & 2019. 6. Safety concerns with those using the trail or those who live in the neighborhood on the other side. One of our tenants contacted the police for fear of someone being outside of his home in the middle of the night. We have also noticed foot prints being outside the windows when there was snow on the ground. We can send additional photos it needed & have also reported to Rebecca Swift. I live at the corner of Kirkwood and Elm Street. I am disabled and have a caregiver coming this morning. There is nowhere for her to park. The snow plow rather than have the blade plow the snow piled up near the cemetery retaining wall, has plowed a huge bank of snow near the sidewalk and has blocked me in my garage. I am trapped and not able to leave. I cannot shovel the snow because of my disabling conditions. There’s nowhere for my caregiver to park. Please help, I’m trapped. Also, when I called yesterday evening to report the issue 812–349–3448, someone named Jared, the operator, was very condescending and sarcastic on the phone to me. Extremely cavalier and quite nasty. It seems as though he delighted in telling me that there wasn’t anything that could be done. His tone and inflection were both rude and patronizing. Thanks, Erica Payne
Glass on sidewalk and road. It has been there for at least a couple of weeks. Luckily I hadn’t had a flat on my bike yet.
This specific incident involved a Lime scooter, but I urge you to please ban ALL motorized scooters from Bloomington. My family and I were just coming back from the airport yesterday when we saw a young woman collide head-first into a car in cross-traffic (without a helmet because of course, none of these scooters come with helmets) because her brake stopped working. This was no one's fault but the manufacturers'. But given how much they make, I'm doubtful much will come out of it if she were to take legal action. There have been so many accidents (some fatal, as you know) in so many cities, including ours, due to these companies dumping scooter after scooter onto seemingly every busy sidewalk, and it is completely within your control to ban them here--after all, Indianapolis did. I would like to know your reasons for allowing them to continue to be used in Bloomington when we know how dangerous they have and will continue to be, as long as they are on the streets.. Just how many more accidents must we see and hear about until something concrete is done?
Hello, I am the facilities manager of Trinity Episcopal Church (111 s Grant Street). A while back our gas meter was moved by (then Vectren) in conjunction with the Culvert work that is ongoing by Milestone. They moved the meter from the back of our building where it was safe - to the corner where it is in a precarious position. In doing so they have compromised the sidewalk, causing the corner to crack and one of the metal plates to raise up forming a lip - which has been reported to me as being a tripping hazard. I've asked numerous times to have the area addressed (specifically the meter itself) and have been ignored by (now) Centerpoint. The sidewalk deterioration is just the latest part of the failure to sensibly relocate that meter in a safe manner. Does the Street department address this? And who can I talk to about the meter itself? It is exposed to Traffic traveling through the alley and will be damaged at some point by a large truck.
