From Reddit Bloomington:
Fiber cables damaging sewer lines
We live right next to Bryan Park. About a week ago our toilet backed up, and after multiple visits from our (very honest and reasonable) plumber, we discovered that the city's fiber optic internet contractor had carelessly run an optic cable directly through our sewer line. This caused a ton of debris to get into our drain pipe and completely clog the pipe, necessitating a $10k repair. I called the city and apparently, this is happening to people all over town. (The person in the utilities office said I was the third person to call today with this exact problem, and our plumber said that this contractor got thrown out of Carmel for damaging so many sewer lines).

Noise all day from the piercing beeping of the construction trucks on the tennis courts. Is there a volume control? Even with all my windows closed and the walls are insulated, I hear this beeping in my house over a block away. It makes it VERY difficult to concentrate and work from home! When will this project be done? This construction project is going to force me to go into to the office.

This is a follow-up on my complaint from 8/18, #173408, regarding the noise from the work on the tennis courts. The piercing truck backing-up noise went on late yesterday, possibly until around 8 pm. This morning it began at 6:40 am. Is this not a bit too early? Is 12-14 hours of this noise in a day not excessive? This noise has been going on all week. How much longer will it persist? Speaking with my neighbors, this noise is forcing us to risk covid and go into the office. Is there no way to turn down the volume on the warning beep? As bad as it is for me, I imagine this must cause some loss of hearing and sanity for the construction workers using the equipment.

Broken weblinks (hospital redevelopment site)
This is the web address: https://bloomington.in.gov/departments/office-of-the-mayor/projects/hospital
The broken links are under "Plans and Documents"
The Urban Land Institute report is there; the other three are not.
Thanks.

There is a metal post with a sign on the train tracks right at the intersection of Indiana Ave and 13th St that looks very frail. In the past wind advisory situations we have had in the city, anytime the wind hit the post, that post sounded as if the wind could dislodged it violently from the base and the sign at the top could fly off into near-by buildings, it even sounded horribly loud as the sign does not seem to be securely attached to the post. When that happened I called 9-1-1 to let them know and asked them to contact whoever is in charge of the tracks for them to look into that by securing that post. However, nothing happened. Tonight, with the tornado watch and the very strong winds we are having, it's the same situation with the post. Because of that, I called the Indiana Railroad Company's emergency number and they said they would email someone but that that would take some time and they were not sure they would get to it that night since they were also in tornado watch.

While visiting Bryan Park on 8/9, I observed mowing with a gas engine lawn mower of grass already at a very low height. Greenhouse gas emissions are a concern from unnecessary mowing, and the area being mowed was very large. For a city with a sustainability office, one would expect either the use of electric lawn equipment and/or mowing only when necessary. Please consider training staff to mow using environmentally friendly practices.

Speeding traffic on East Morningside Drive. Can you do ANYTHING about the speeding traffic on East Morningside Drive?? The posted speed limit is 25mph! I feel like it’s going to take someone being seriously injured before anything is done about it. A lot of residents including myself have had to buy our own yard signs begging people to slow down! I feel our tax dollars should enforce this. Post an officer a few times with a radar and hand out some tickets before it’s too late for gods sake! I’m tired of it! I back my boat in the drive in the summer. I literally have people try to drive around the front of me on the sidewalk once. This is crazy. I’m guess the average speed on the street is 45-50mph. Some I’m sure top 60 mph or faster. Please do something. I live on a slight curve. It’s like taking your life in your hands pulling in. Some moron came around the other day looking at her phone going well over 50 mph I’m sure. Thought I was going to die. I’ve lived in plenty of other towns and work in a different town most everyday. It’s not like this anywhere else. Laws are enforced and people don’t have to beg for help. This is like a highway. Please, help out the Morningside residents.
