The home that I rent had a city rental inspection conducted in November. I was home and neither did the inspector inspect everything that is listed on the pre-inspection addendum nor did they speak with me. There are a few issues that I would have pointed out if given the opportunity. Most notably, as listed in HAND's documentation, it states that All required openable windows shall be capable of remaining open on their own hardware. That is not the case in this home and that was not inspected. Can someone please explain to me what the procedure is for inspections? There are other issues as well that I had erroneously assumed would have been inspected since they are on the list of what is required of a rental property to have in good order. These are not issues that are perhaps directly impacting me at the moment but I do feel strongly that the house should be in actual full compliance so as to protect future renters. Property owners who rent their property should be held fully accountable to what the ordinances stipulate. Is it because of COVID that the inspector spent less than five minutes "inspecting" the entire house? Thank you.

The rear retaining wall of 705 w 13th Street is a hazard as it is soon to fall like the other piece of retaining wall that fell off. Please address this hazard that is seen every day by us dog walkers using the public ROW in the alley. That large piece of limestone could fall any second and land on something or someone and it is unfair that property owners are not held accountable for maintaining their property.
This rental property was inspected recently, and even with hazardous sidewalks on property as well as hazardous retaining walls, it was approved as safe for being a rental. Nope. It is not safe.

Feb 15 - I would like to uderstand what happened to my alley and stone wall. The alley that I maintain and mow since 2005 now has a load of greavel dumped on it - without any notification or reason. This makes it unsightly, less usable for walking and unmowable. Portions of the stone retaining wall along N Fairview Street have also been destroyed. Neighbors reported seeing a City truck knocking the wall down and then trying to jam it back in place with a backhoe. But the results of how it was left can be seen in the attached photo. Both of these will be costly to repair. Do you know who was responsible for this?

This shop, Quality Imports Service, regularly parks in front of the yellow 'no parking' curb. When there is a vehicle parked up near the stop sign it makes the intersection more dangerous than it already is. Thank you.

Greetings. Could someone please cut back the vegetation at the southwest corner of where 11th st. intercepts Fairview. It has blocked visibility from both directions and is causing a safety issue. There is also signage that is being hidden. Thank you kindly!
Addendom: I am a pedestrian not a motorist. It has become unsafe for pedestrians at an intersection that is already dangerous due to motorists speeding from three directions. Thank you.

Several months ago a vehicle drove into and knocked down a light pole on the opposite corner. Due to that, there have been metal cables coiled up on the corner of 11th and Fairview. Now they have fallen into the right of way of the sidewalk. This is dangerous and I respectfully ask that it be fixed. Thank you.
Sidewalk Snow Removal

As of Monday morning at 8:30 am, no attempt has been made to clear snow from the sidewalks at and around the Indiana Railroad bridge over 11th street. In particular, there is a large snowbank blocking the southwest corner of 11th and Fairview (south of the bridge).
This is not the only uncleared sidewalk in this area. However, I respectfully request that this location be made a priority for enforcement because (a) this is a well used pedestrian route, (b) this is a known dangerous intersection, (c) the property owner (Indiana Railroad) has a history of being slow to respond.
