Hello, I'm a second-year tenant of a house on S Woodlawn Ave. The walk home at night is very dangerous because there are no street lights once you get south of Atwater Ave. As a larger man, I luckily do not have to worry as much as about being abducted by any predators. However, I still worry about getting struck by a car because of the lack of visibility on the streets and sidewalks. We have guests that are women that fear coming to our house at night because of how dark the street gets and they could easily be abducted in the dark. My roommates and I often find ourselves having to walk guests to Atwater for them to feel safe. It is a public safety issue and I'm requesting that street lights are installed on Woodlawn Ave for a minimum of 5 blocks south of Atwater. Woodlawn is a highly trafficked area not only by cars, but pedestrians too. I'm a policy analysis major and would love to be involved in any research or implementation needed to solve this issue. I believe that the intersection of Hunter and Fess (one block North of the new Bloomingfoods store) should be changed from a 2 way stop to a 4 way stop. When travelling west on Hunter, it is very difficult to see any traffic coming up Fess (north bound) until you are completely in the street. This traffic on Fess does not stop today, while Hunter does stop. With the significant number of cars normally parked on Fess, it is very difficult to see oncoming traffic until you are nearly into the oncoming traffic lane. With the new Bloomingfoods, there seems to be a growing amount of traffic using Fess in this area. I regular use Hunter on my bicycle, and this intersection is the most dangerous one on Hunter, and would benefit from being converted to a 4 way stop.
