Every night the sidewalk is taken over by an encampment of individuals sleeping on the sidewalk. The area gets littered with needles/syringes, garbage and more. The nightly inhabitants use the surrounding properties as toilets and leave fecal messes to be cleaned up. Last night there was a fire pit with an active fire in it, as it was a cool night. This is a recipe for disaster, not to mention that these people should not be sleeping in the sidewalk public ROW. The police need to be involved as this is after business hours. Attention to this matter is very much needed and appreciated.

Hello, I'm a second-year tenant of a house on S Woodlawn Ave. The walk home at night is very dangerous because there are no street lights once you get south of Atwater Ave. As a larger man, I luckily do not have to worry as much as about being abducted by any predators. However, I still worry about getting struck by a car because of the lack of visibility on the streets and sidewalks. We have guests that are women that fear coming to our house at night because of how dark the street gets and they could easily be abducted in the dark. My roommates and I often find ourselves having to walk guests to Atwater for them to feel safe. It is a public safety issue and I'm requesting that street lights are installed on Woodlawn Ave for a minimum of 5 blocks south of Atwater. Woodlawn is a highly trafficked area not only by cars, but pedestrians too. I'm a policy analysis major and would love to be involved in any research or implementation needed to solve this issue. Consistent standing/pooling water in the former Mike's Carwash lot. Increased mosquito issues and stale, stagnant standing water should be remediated immediately.
