About .5 mile into the rail trail is a large homeless camp (off Country Club) from the entrance. The sites continue to grow & pop up. There are multiple concerns with this. 1. Contamination with the water by litter, human waste, & drug paraphernalia. 2. Affects to wild life through trash & humans inhabiting their homes. 3. Land is affected by litter & drug paraphernalia such as glass pipes & needles. 4. There are safety concerns with children playing in the creek due to human waste & drug paraphernalia being in the water, they could get diseases from contaminated needles or step on glass pipes. 5. This is a dangerous location for the homeless as they are in a flash flood location. It has completely flooded out on 2020 & 2019. 6. Safety concerns with those using the trail or those who live in the neighborhood on the other side. One of our tenants contacted the police for fear of someone being outside of his home in the middle of the night. We have also noticed foot prints being outside the windows when there was snow on the ground. We can send additional photos it needed & have also reported to Rebecca Swift. The tree branches hanging over the sidewalk connecting the B-Line to the parking lot and Rail Trail are extremely low. I keep hitting my helmet on them as I bike through. It would be nice to get these trimmed back. Thanks!

The sidewalks between the B-Line Trail and Madison Street at the 3rd Street bridge are getting overgrown. Both sidewalks on the north and south sides of 3rd Street running west from the trail to Madison have low hanging trees and overgrown shrubs. There is also a lot of loose sand on the south sidewalk of 3rd Street overpass. As the only way onto the Trail at 3rd, this all makes for an adventure. On my Bicycle I have to be very careful. I'd like to see this trimmed. I bike commute on the trail from the south to the area of 3rd and Madison. My roommate bike commutes to Cowork. I see others use the sidewalks too. Could be much safer. I noticed today that the sidewalk by the parking lot of the Bloomington Police station on Lincoln street one end of the sidewalk before crossing the parking lot does not have an accessible sidewalk - it has a curb. Will his be resurfaced to be wheelchair accessible soon?

I live at the corner of Kirkwood and Elm Street. I am disabled and have a caregiver coming this morning. There is nowhere for her to park. The snow plow rather than have the blade plow the snow piled up near the cemetery retaining wall, has plowed a huge bank of snow near the sidewalk and has blocked me in my garage. I am trapped and not able to leave. I cannot shovel the snow because of my disabling conditions. There’s nowhere for my caregiver to park. Please help, I’m trapped. Also, when I called yesterday evening to report the issue 812–349–3448, someone named Jared, the operator, was very condescending and sarcastic on the phone to me. Extremely cavalier and quite nasty. It seems as though he delighted in telling me that there wasn’t anything that could be done. His tone and inflection were both rude and patronizing. Thanks, Erica Payne

This specific incident involved a Lime scooter, but I urge you to please ban ALL motorized scooters from Bloomington. My family and I were just coming back from the airport yesterday when we saw a young woman collide head-first into a car in cross-traffic (without a helmet because of course, none of these scooters come with helmets) because her brake stopped working. This was no one's fault but the manufacturers'. But given how much they make, I'm doubtful much will come out of it if she were to take legal action. There have been so many accidents (some fatal, as you know) in so many cities, including ours, due to these companies dumping scooter after scooter onto seemingly every busy sidewalk, and it is completely within your control to ban them here--after all, Indianapolis did. I would like to know your reasons for allowing them to continue to be used in Bloomington when we know how dangerous they have and will continue to be, as long as they are on the streets.. Just how many more accidents must we see and hear about until something concrete is done?

Hello, I am the facilities manager of Trinity Episcopal Church (111 s Grant Street). A while back our gas meter was moved by (then Vectren) in conjunction with the Culvert work that is ongoing by Milestone. They moved the meter from the back of our building where it was safe - to the corner where it is in a precarious position. In doing so they have compromised the sidewalk, causing the corner to crack and one of the metal plates to raise up forming a lip - which has been reported to me as being a tripping hazard. I've asked numerous times to have the area addressed (specifically the meter itself) and have been ignored by (now) Centerpoint. The sidewalk deterioration is just the latest part of the failure to sensibly relocate that meter in a safe manner. Does the Street department address this? And who can I talk to about the meter itself? It is exposed to Traffic traveling through the alley and will be damaged at some point by a large truck. If you folks could assist me in this - Trinity Episcopal Church sure would be grateful. Thanks for your time, Kevin Burdeshaw Facilities Manager

North of Kirkwood on Grant next to the Pizzaria there is a good size chunk of sidewalk missing. A Blind man and his dog use this sidewalk regularly. It is a hazard to him. Please repair soon.
