Sidewalk & Curb Complaints

715 W 13th ST

Case Date:
8/14/2022

Sidewalks were recently replaced on two blocks of west 13th. But one half block from Fairview west to the next East-West alley was untouched. This is what it looks like. A neighbor living on this block is in a wheelchair. The sidewalk is unsafe and not navigable. Why was this half block omitted in the much needed replacement?

This is a followup to uReport Case # 181026, which was closed by Chris Axsom without giving me a chance to respond. The old WPA limestone sidewalks on just half a block of W 13th were not replaced, and this is how they were left. The contractor told me the City had no more money to complete this half block. Please follow up with me and please don't close the case again until we have had a chance to discuss this. I can't understand why this last half block was not replaced, nor why the connection between new and old parts was so poorly done. Thank you.

When can I expect a response to UReport 181441? Note that this was a second request about an earlier UReport filed mid-August but closed before it was resolved satisfactorily. I would appreciate a response. Thank you!

I am incredibly frustrated that I can't get an answer to my initial uReport. Most recently, RayeAnn Cox responded to the wrong ticket. Please don't close the case before I have a chance to respond! She responded to someone else's uReport, not mine. Mine was 181440 (NOT 181441). I then followed that up (because I got no satisfactory response) with 181592. Can someone please reply WITHOUT closing the case?

Request to repaint yellow curb

A postal worker parks on the yellow curb at the NE corner of 13th and Fairview several times a week. This prevents southbound traffic on Fairview from seeing if it’s safe to proceed across 13th Street. The yellow curb there is very faded, so perhaps they do not know it is illegal to park there. I request that the curb be repainted.

This shop, Quality Imports Service, regularly parks in front of the yellow 'no parking' curb. When there is a vehicle parked up near the stop sign it makes the intersection more dangerous than it already is. Thank you.

Walking home Thursday night, I turned my ankle in this hole. In the dark, it's invisible. This whole block is in bad shape (west side of road).

Sewer Problems (Storm Sewers)

350 W 11th ST

Case Date:
10/8/2018

I am submitting this Ureport on behalf of Upland Brewing. Pete Batule of Upland Brewing contacted me on 10-5-18 to say that Upland has been experiencing significant issues with odor coming from the storm drains on the north side of 11th street directly in front of Upland's patio. The odor is having a negative impact on their patio dining customers. Here is background on the issue as provided by Mr. Batule: Upland has had ongoing issues over the last few years with odors near the patio. They installed a piece of equipment above their lift station (the Peacemaker) next to the patio to neutralize the smell coming from the lift station. It wasn’t until the Peacemaker was installed that they suspected most of the odor was coming from the storm drains. Phil Peden has done some investigation on the storm drains. He noted there is an illicit connection tying to the north side of the storm box. Phil doesn't believe it is tied to a toilet because there isn't paper in it, but perhaps is related to byproduct or a wash drain/sink coming from elsewhere. Upland has dye tested their facility and found no evidence that the connection on the north side of the storm box is connected to their facilities. The odor comes on very strong at times to the point where they have to relocate customers. They notice an increase in odor around times when it rains and storm drain activity increases. James Hall and I discussed this issue on 10/8/18 and James has started to follow up internally at CBU on next steps. Kelly
