Sidewalks on Maxwell end just before my house and I would like to request that they be extended. I have small children and we live right at Miller and Maxwell, which is an active intersection with a lot of folks turning from Miller towards my house. My kids enjoy riding their bikes, but we don't ride nearly as often because I worry about them going out into the street. I would like to request that sidewalks be extended down at least to cover my house.

Sometimes, I use to walk back home. I use 10th street to reach my home, but there is a short section of 10th street from around 3951 E to Meadow Park that does not have a sidewalk. It is really dangerous to walk in the road because it is not a straight rode and drivers cannot see you.

I’m writing to request the completion of unfinished sidewalks and the addition of some crosswalks on the west side of Bloomington. The first is an unfinished stretch of sidewalk along the east side of Curry Pike from Industrial Avenue to the intersection of 2nd St./45. The sidewalk dead-ends before reaching the intersection, and there is no crosswalk at the intersection to allow pedestrians to cross safely from the north side of 2nd St./45 to the south side, or vice versa. The second is a stretch of sidewalk along the north side of 2nd St. from Liberty Drive to Industrial Avenue. This sidewalk is overgrown and near unusable and dead-ends before reaching Industrial Avenue. Moreover, the intersection at Liberty Drive and 2nd St. has a crosswalk on only the north side (going east-west) and does not allow pedestrians to cross safely from the south to north side of 2nd St., or vice versa. Lastly, the sidewalk on the west side of Curry Pike does not connect between Lamplighter Mall Ct. and Glen Oaks Drive, and connecting these stretches of sidewalk would provide better access to 3rd street and the neighborhoods along Curry Pike. It would be much appreciated if the city could complete these stretches of sidewalk and make the area more walkable for those of us who do not have other modes of transportation or who simply prefer to walk the shorter distances to reach businesses and services that are close to home. I am the homeowner at 3817 S Woods Edge Bend. Can the city repair my sidewalk? My insurance company is saying this is necessary, and I don't know how to get this done.

Thank you in advance for reading my inquiry. I would like to suggest a sidewalk due to a safety concern that effects children and disabled persons. Referring to the intersection at E Rogers Road and the Stands Drive. There is no sidewalk along this street connecting the stands road sidewalk to the crosswalk at the roundabout at the bottom of the hill (i.e., the area on the south side of E Rogers Road). Moreover, the sidewalk on the other side of the street is completely inaccessible for those with impaired motor function or wheelchairs (there is a large hill with steps only and no ramp). There are two major concerns here: (1) there is no possible way for a disabled person with a wheelchair to travel on E Rogers road (from the roundabout at the bottom of the hill up to the stands drive). (2) There is no way for families and children to safely walk to Child's elementary from this location (the Stands dr). Given that E Rogers road is a busy street with limited visibility for drivers and no crosswalk exists at the intersection of the Stands drive and E Rogers Road, it is extremely dangerous for children and families that wish to walk their children to the designated elementary school - Child's Elementary. This is the only direct walking path to Child's Elementary for all of the constituents that leave in the Stands neighborhood. There is no sidewalk on the south side of E Rogers Rd to connect the Stands Dr with the crosswalk at the bottom of the hill at the roundabout. Several constituents have expressed a safety concern. I also witnessed one woman and child almost get hit by a car at this busy intersection as they attempted to cross the street. I'd be happy to answer any additional questions. The sidewalk ends abruptly in a very dangerous intersection. This turn needs to be improved for pedestrian safety. The sidewalk should not be on only one side of the road, particularly in such a dangerous location for pedestrians to cross the road, just to have the sidewalk reappear only meters away.

Comment from Josh Conway on Facebook: How about getting a sidewalk on N Crescent rd between Marquis and fountain drive??? I see people forced to take wheelchairs up and down that section of city road. People in cars just keep buzzing them.

Sidewalk is blocked by overgrowth of shrubs. A great amount of pruning is needed.

We purchased this property in 2007. In 2002 this property had been subdivided and there was a bond for required sidewalks on the property. On July 25, 2012, we turned over the funds from the bond to the City of Bloomington in the amount of $10,690. Since that time, there have been no sidewalks installed. IF sidewalks are REQUIRED when a property is subdivided, what is a REASONABLE amount of time to wait for installation? In the meantime the City just sits on that money? I would appreciate some answers and insight to these REQUIRED sidewalks. Thank you.

At the corner of Valley Blvd and Cedar Ave, there is a landscaped area with a large sign that says City of Bloomington Welcome, with benches and a tribute to the high school class of 2020. The plants that were put there as part of the landscaping are DEAD OR DYING. There is garbage everywhere. There is a shopping cart filled with trash and filthy blankets. There is an ad for repossessed houses real cheap on metal stakes stuck into the landscaped area. Can you water the plants? Remove the garbage? Maintain it a little bit? It looks like an urban wasteland and is not a fitting tribute to the high school class that just graduated nor to the "City of Bloomington". It looks terrible. How hard is it to water and pick up the garbage twice a month? Also, along Cedar Avenue from there going, I guess, north toward the Fontana Courthouse on Arrowhead, visible along the entire way are usually mattresses, couches, refrigerators, today a poor little dead PUPPY in the middle of the road, GARBAGE everywhere, dead tumbleweeds on the sidewalks, broken baby strollers, automobile SEATS apparently removed from the interior of the car, blown tires for, apparently, big rig trucks. I dont know, the tires are so huge they look like truck tires. We see this detritus EVERY SINGLE DAY for months on end. How are you not aware of it? if you are employed to maintain the streets, maintain them. And please don't tell me it's not your jurisdiction. Just pass this on to whomever has jurisdiction over the aforementioned areas. People are trying to walk on these streets, especially in the early morning, trying to get some exercise. Should children have to grow accustomed to this kind of urban landscape, to think that this is the best it can be here? PLEASE WATER THE PLANTS that were put in the little landscape by the freeway. Or else take them out and give them away. Thank you.
