I would love to know when you plan to put a stop to the “No space for hate” Antifa group that is ruining our town and has already ruined the farmers market. They are nothing more than bullies and quickly becoming more of a terrorist group than anything relating to peaceful protest. They are harassing citizens of Bloomington. Even showing up at their place of work to terrorize them if they think their beliefs don’t align with the groups. Most often without justification. I don’t agree with Schooner Creek Farms belief either, but this group is completely out of control and something needs to be done about it sooner than later before we end up with someone getting killed.

Increase in taxes: No more new taxes! The mayor's proposed increase in the optional income tax is nothing but a money grab. Evidence is now coming out as departments are hustling to come up with ideas about how to spend the money, such as housing and transportation in addition to the climate stuff. Bloomington is not and will not change the climate. How about sound good projects and then figure out how to sell them and fund them with the public. How about looking at efficient ways of doing city business? No new taxes!!
Climate Tax: I do not support Mayor Hamilton’s proposed 37% increase to the local income tax rate to address climate change. Mayor Hamilton has stated that the additional revenue will be used for a “sustainability fund” to “mitigate climate change” and “work for climate justice.” I have no idea what he means by “climate justice,” and the notion that actions taken by a small midwestern city could have any measurable impact on changing the global climate is ridiculous. But more importantly, this proposed tax in regressive and hits people living on a fixed income and the poor the hardest. If you want to help the poor and people living on a fixed income, don’t take any more money away from them for another wasteful government spending program.
I understand that we are following a stay at home order. Yet when I went for a run today I saw guys working on construction at the City's Switchyard park and many other sites across the city, trees are being trimmed on many roads in the city, and near the Kroger on South Walnut the tire store was open, the verizon store was open, of course the Kroger was open, and the daycare center up the street had a bunch of cars and kids playing in their playground. What's going on? It is disconcerting to say the least. thank you.
In light of the news ,Monroe County Coroner Preparing Makeshift Morgue As COVID-19 Cases Increase Posted March 29, 2020 , I wunder if John Hamilton still thinks open borders & unveted unvaccinated Illegal immigration is safe or is it racist implied as misused as the term is for the context point . the sentiment of the May 17 th 2010 Boy cott noticed . I have been ill with non covid-19 pneumonia and sinus infection for several weeks. I could not have gotten through this period of time if not for the amazing team at Walmart and delivery partners. I know it’s not over but I am feeling so grateful this morning. I am high risk given I’ve been so sick, I’m over weight and I have asthma. They very likely have saved my life. First responders are recognized and given honors by cities all the time so I’m suggesting that someone reach out to or Walmart and all of our local grocery stores at some point so we can bestow some sort of award or honor to these men and women. I’m sure your offices are spread thin right now but at some point I’m the near future I hope this idea will be visited. I would be happy to donate my time any way I can be of use. I am excellent on the phone as I managed a local call center for several years. These workers are not paid well. I believe they need and deserve a huge boost in morale. Local businesses might be willing to give back to them in some way via a discount or free meal etc. Ago at least be acknowledged for the great worth of their hard work and diligence is so very important!
