In case you had not seen this posting in the Nextdoor Neighbor site. Hope something can be done so that this lady and all other dog owners can safely and enjoyably use the dog area.

Both shower drains are badly backed up, to the point of nearly flooding the adjacent bathrooms. This is extremely unsanitary as well as flooding risk to the facility. This has been reported to staff a minimum of five times over the past several weeks but to my knowledge no action has been taken.
There are at least five camps of unhoused individuals along this stretch of trail. They are now clearing the land for firewood and also running generators. There is trash everywhere and almost daily screaming fights that are spilling over into the adjacent Broadview neighborhood, including an assault yesterday, 1/7 on Bryan. What's the long term plan here? The parcels on either side of the trail are owned by Autovest II LLC.
Tried to register online but was unable to "search" for event to register. I kept getting the same page--search. I will register by mail but thought you should know. (A family member at a different address had a similar problem.) Thank you and Happy New Year
Lots of trash in the waterway areas visible when walking from the parking lot at Switchyard Park off of South Walnut toward the stage area. I would be happy to help clean it up with a crew sometime.
I live right next to Bryan Park and walk my dogs there daily. Lately, there has been a noticeable increase in the amount of pet waste left uncollected by other dog owners. The middle path through the park is particularly bad. You can hardly go 10-15ft along the path without encountering a pile. I have stepped in several while moving out of the way for cyclists. I don’t have a good solution on how to fix this, people just aren’t picking up after their dogs and it’s becoming an issue.
The spring 2024 program guide has a dearth of diverse representation in the local photos. Check out the populations pictured - especially the largest/most prominent photos on the cover, p 15, p 24, p 28. Nearly all white people under 35. On a couple of other pages, people of color and older people are tiniest images. It would also be great to have images of people with disabilities in active settings, especially to highlight the inclusive recreation program.
A tree in the front lawn of this property has two large broken branches that overhang the street, and they've been so for a couple months now. A lot of people walk under these branches on their way to and from Highland Village Park, and it's only a matter of time before one or both of these branches detach and fall onto the street. Currently, you can hear them creaking and see them swaying with the wind. They need to be safely removed before they snap off.
Last February we reached out and requested that Parks clear several downed trees along the hiking trail behind Twin Lakes for our run group route. Parks came out within a couple days and cleared all of the downed trees including one huge one. I don't think I sent anything at the time but just wanted to give everyone a huge thank you for doing that for us - it helped so much. Everyone in our run group really appreciated the responsiveness and efforts from parks staff. Thank you so much!
Request for bike racks on either the east or west side of the splash pad restroom building. Our run club meets here and the nearest bike racks are next to the playground south of here. We have a decent number of cyclists during the summer who would all use these racks during our runs on Mondays/Wednesdays. I bike year round and so this would be a great quality of life upgrade for me personally as well. Thanks for the consideration!
