- Case Date:
- 9/11/2025
Anytime Fitness (presumably the location at 2894 E 3rd St #160, Bloomington, IN 47401) has placed 12 yard signs on the median strip of SR46, closest to the intersection at East 3rd Street.
They are already starting to come out of the ground, and will likely start to end-up in the roadway soon, if not removed.
Please remove, cite, and/or advise the business that this is not acceptable.

See case #204983. That one was for a "For Rent" sign put up by Brawley in the ROW in front of 508 N. Washington. Apparnetly, they have been informed but they have done nothing about it and the sign remains after a month. Now, "Cedarview" (+ "10th & College") has done the same thing - signs in the ROWs all over town. Lincoln/10th, for example, but others downtown. The question is: since these signs have been left on public property, are they considered trash? And if so, can anyone just pick them up and toss them in a dumpster? Give us permission to do that and we will be happy to take care of them as residents and not wait the weeks (months!) for HAND or Planning to address the issue with the perpetrators.

There is an individual that has multiple "yard/garage sale ALL WEEK" signs posted on city road signs, as well as on some sort of easel/stand situation which is located on the eastbound side of W. 3rd St., across from the entrance to what I believe is S. Yancy Lane, where they live and have posted the other signage attached to the city/county signs.
Please remove these signs immediately, and advise the person that this is not acceptable.

Twice now over the past 4 days, I have been walking in the middle of this crosswalk across High St, and a car coming the other way does not stop and drives around me, once when I had two children behind me. Both were white female drivers in their 60s/70s. Perhaps their vision does not see the white painted crosswalk area OR the yellow signs, but I'm thinking they are choosing to break the law. Mateo is a wonderful crossing guard, but he was not there either of these two times. This area needs to be repainted with high visibility/reflective paint, a blinking light on the signs, or at the very minimum, monitored by police for a while. Someone is going to get killed.

There's a spotlight in front of the old folks home that shines into the road (east moores). the light faces east. it's very distracting/misleading driving towards it at night. I believe the light is supposed to illuminate a sign or tree.

Because of all the new construction in the area, there are a *huge* number of cars now vying for the limited spaces. The result is that people are parking in places they shouldn't, and backyards have become parking lots. This location is only one example. On the alley south of the house, over the weekend there was a Lexus with Illinois plates (AC7_2559) parked in the alley, blocking it. At other times (including this morning) another vehicle was parked in the same location (dark red Hyundai Santa Fe, photo attached). This problem will only get worse if Planning continues to allow developers to increase density in this area. There are already *NO* parking spots available on the streets. None. Zilch. It is no wonder people are parking in the alleys.

Cars cut through Matlock Heights to avoid the light at Walnut/Bypass. We need traffic calming here to slow traffic down. Cars are driving at high speeds and not watching out for walkers and children biking. This has been a major issue during the construction which is happening now on Walnut and the Bypass, but is also year round.
