New striping for bike lane on N Smith dangerous. It eliminates the lane shortly before Morningside then starts back up after. Go ahead and make consistent.
This location at 10th St near Fountain Park Apartments and the United States Postal Service has a high volume of pedestrian traffic, especially between the apartment complex and the post office. However, there is only a pedestrian crossing sign in one direction, and there are no road markings indicating a crosswalk. Many drivers do not stop for pedestrians, creating a dangerous situation for those crossing the street. I am concerned for the safety of residents and postal customers, as the current setup does not effectively alert drivers to pedestrian activity in this area. Would it be possible to add crosswalk markings and additional signage in both directions, or consider other safety improvements, such as a pedestrian-activated crossing light? These changes could greatly enhance safety for the community. Thank you for considering this request.
Difficult to cross the road at the bus stop. Cars do not slow down. Needs public light for more visibility of the pedestrian.
What is the latest news regarding the West Allen Connector? Also, thanks making Bloomington a better place.
on the south side of Smith Ave just east of Walnut St (the north boundary of 405 S Walnut, Chocolate Moose), there is a strip of gravel between the sidewalk and the bike lane. the gravel frequently enters the bike lane and has caused my kid to fall there. its my impression that planning dept zoning enforcement is supposed to prevent this landscaping choice?? ps the photo is old but the problem is still present today. thanks!!
After making a purchase (at 11:41:55am 1/10/25 according to the receipt) at World Foods Market I left and continued on foot to Kroger. Before reaching the corner with Walnut street I slipped and fell on the the sidewalk north of World Food Market's west parking lot, next to where they park their van. Some of their sidewalk is very well cleared, but the part north of the west parking lot is inadequately treated (and the sidewalk to the west of the west parking lot, as well).
Very difficult and dangerous to cross the road when getting on or off the bus mostly during rush hour and when the sun is down. Public light is a bit far from the cross walk. Cars are going fast in that area and don't stop for pedestrians.
er: The bike lane dividers on 3rd Street are very dangerous. Instead of parking all along the bike lane, where cyclists have a chance to filter into the main traffic lanes to get around cars, cars are parking right where the dividers end, and cyclists cannot jump the dividers to get into the main lane of traffic, so cyclists have to slam on their brakes in a bike lane full of gravel to avoid rear ending the cars. Please consider extending these dividers all the way to Indiana Ave, and make them cub for buses in the areas where buses need to pick people up.
