Because Miller is a popular throughway and Maxwell does not have stop signs at the 3-way, there have been multiple accidents and even more near-accidents in the years since I've lived nearby. We could use stop signs to help the flow of traffic a lot.
Please consider adding a stop sign at the intersection of Highland and the street leading into/out of the YMCA property. Curving road, ascending and descending roads, blocked views, speeding cars, pedestrians and children. Need a safer way to cross and turn at this intersection. Thank you
The bump out curbs are a hazard to vehicles because they are not well marked in advance of approach. Vehicles are flattening tires and could cause a hazard to pedestrians from loss of control of the vehicle.
I have in front of my house the remnants of a speed bump design that wasn't effective. What is left are two very small speed bumps in the center of the road. Unfortunately, the width of the space between the end of the bump and the curb in front of my house is just wide enough for a car to pass through to avoid the bump entirely. I will say comfortably 50-75 percent (this is a conservative figure) of the traffic does not slow down, and swings into that gap between the speed bump and the curb to pass by. The road in this area in front of my house has had to be repaired at least three times, and it is a hazard for pedestrians on the sidewalk to be in that proximity to the cars at speed. I also have to go through that section of the yard and pick out all the asphalt chunks that have been broken off the road and flipped into my yard before I cut the grass. It is a significant amount. I would like to ask that a speed bump that extends across the road be considered here, much like the ones on Maxwell Drive. Is there anything you can do here? I've included a picture for context. Pulling out of the habitat parking lot is very dangerous due to the poor visibility caused by cars parked far too close on either side of the parking lot entrance.
The North/South alley between 810 W. 7th and 804 W. 7th is being encroached upon by gardens, woodpiles, trees/vegetation and possibly the fence and cinder block garage owned by 810 W 7th St. As a result, the alley traffic is being diverted outside of the alley right of way and onto the private property located at 804 W. 7th. This appears to have been going on for a number of years. As the new owner of 804 W. 7th St., it is my full intention to re-claim the property/property line currently being encroached upon and proceed with renovations. I request that the Street Dept contact the owner of 810 W. 7th and order the encroachments be removed. With the assistance of a surveyor, I have located the NW and SW corner pins delineating the right of way and pounded new T posts just outside of the right of way in those spots and plan to post the entire property line once the encroachments are removed. Were I to reclaim the property line today, the alley would become impassible due to said encroachments. I request your assistance in remedying this situation in a civil and legal manner, as requests to the homeowner of 810 W.7th have fallen upon deaf ears. I request that you keep me in the loop regarding this issue. I would be happy to meet with a representative of the street dept, with survey in hand, to assist in clarifying and remedying this issue, as renovations of 804 W. 7th will begin in a few weeks. Most all of Maple Street is marked as No Parking, except a short distance before it intersects with 11th street. 2-3 cars consistently park in that short distance, fully occupying the right side of the road. Cars turning onto Maple from 11th cannot see when a car is approaching the intersection on Maple, and the cars on Maple are forced to stop on the opposite side of the road, causing near miss accidents daily and excessive honking. I would like to request that the “No Parking” zone be extended all the way to the stop sign as all residences (including the apartments in the photo) have designate parking areas. The intersection is also frequented by school and city busses, causing even more danger.
