We desperately need a crosswalk here. Kids cross here all the time, because it's a convenient place to park and cross, but without a crossing guard we're at the mercy of traffic. And they are not merciful.
People regularly park on the street on W. 15th off of Madison. People like the mailman understand to pull off the road onto the grass (which is a little annoying but acceptable). But we seem to have plenty of mowers, random people etc... that just think it's street parking. This blocks a sizeable portion of the road. It happens at least once a week. The disappointing part is that there is curb parking on Madison literally 20 ft around the corner. I've told a number of people but most don't care. It'd be great to have a NO PARKING sign on W. 15th or a 'street parking on Madison' sign or something. That's it. It would really make it safer considering we don't have sidewalks on this part of W. 15th so clogging the road creates a potential for disaster and inhibits things like buses for school/elderly.
There is a very dangerous vehicular traffic pattern on S Woodlawn Ave between Sheridan Dr and E Hillside Dr, especially near the Grimes & Woodlawn and Weatherstone & Woodlawn intersections. There is a blind hill on Woodlawn that greatly decreases visibility for everyone. North @ south-bound vehicles on Woodlawn regularly break the speed limit by 20+ MPH and have even seen estimated speeds of 70+ mph. Sometimes vehicles "floor it" on Woodlawn southbound from Sheridan Ln stop sign. The city should consider installing a STOP sign on Woodlawn @ Grimes intersection to decrease the speed of North & South-bound traffic on Woodlawn Ave. The city should also consider additional signage to protect pedestrians who are crossing from Weatherstone Ln to Bryan Park. I have almost been hit there several times by speeding cars and trucks. This is a primary route for cyclists, pedestrians, commuting students, and dog-walkers. Pedestrians and cyclists crossing Woodlawn anywhere between Hillside and Sheridan Ave risk injury and death by vehicles speeding up and down the blind hill. The white poles on Thurs street need to go. They are going to cause an accident.
Almost got into an accident TWICE thanks to the new white traffic pylons you put up blocking off 3rd Street where it becomes a one way on campus. I've had two cars pull out in front of me off of Mitchell street because it used to be a lane they could pull out onto but now it's blocked off for seemingly no reason whatsoever. Really unacceptable.
I would appreciate having someone who is in authority to come out to view traffic on East Third Street. But it shouldn't be the idiot who decided to turn Third Street into a 2-lane road. As traffic is moving east, we first have a race between the two lanes to merge into one by the time they reach Clarizz Blvd. Then, folks who attempt to access Third Street from any road between Clarizz and Smith Road have to wait anywhere from 2 to 20 minutes just to get into the lane of traffic. God forbid if they are making a left-hand turn! This silly traffic pattern has completely destroyed the continuity and flow of traffic, all so you could put bike lanes in. Now, I must admit that since they were put in I have seen two bicycles in the bike lanes - one traveling east and one traveling west. Way to go, planning crew! When can we expect the city to reverse this mistake??
Traffic pattern change at 3rd and Mitchell near campus makes turning west onto 3rd street very dangerous. To pull up far enough to see westbound traffic you are looking out the back windows of the car and can't actively be watching for pedestrians walking east. Also, when cars turn east onto 3rd from Mitchell it completely blocks the view of oncoming traffic for those wanting to turn west onto 3rd.
This intersection is very dangerous with people trying to turn left into Belle Tire or turn left from Belle Tire. It needs to either be eliminated as an ingress or it needs a porkchop or something that only allows cars to turn right into or out of.
This should not be an all way stop. Traffic leaving the subdivision isn't any more than the traffic leaving highland. This backs up too frequently than is necessary. And there are no other stop signs impeding traffic on winslow
W. Dodds St. needs a double-yellow line between S. Rogers and S. College to make it clear that it's a two-way street there. Traffic coming from S. College onto Dodds has been going one-way before the turn, but nothing on Dodds indicates that it's now a two-way street. I was going east on W. Dodds recently when a westbound car was headed toward me on my side of the road. I honked loud and long until they moved over. But it wasn't really their fault since nothing after they turned alerted them to the fact that Dodds had become a two-way street there---no signage, nothing. Thank you.
