I knew Longview and Pete Ellis were getting some apartments built in that lot, but apparently it is going to be more than usually allowed? I am SUPER concerned that you're going to be packing extra students (almost all will have cars) on a road that is NOT designed for heavy traffic but SUPPOSEDLY a bike path for bikes. It might be great, but what are the extra precautions taking place to ensure students zipping in and out won't disrupt the greenway and kill cyclists? Hoping some will be cyclists, but realistically there is going to be a lot of in and out speedy traffic there for what was a very calm road fantastic for biking. Want to make sure it's not overlooked. Also, anything big built east of College is going to experience major backup on rush hour times at College and 3rd. I know it's a state intersection but the city needs to look into it and factor in the ability of that intersection to take on more traffic. Something needs to change there. It literally clogs (outside of a pandemic) constantly with left turn traffic from 3rd turning south to College, which block eastbound 3rd street. Time and again. Part of the problem is it clogs at the next light (the city's I would imagine) by Fazoli's as the lights aren't coordinated well if at all. So two concerns: not a bad place to live, including for students - way better than century village hotel, but make sure the bike path remains safe! This can't be presumed. That area will change big time and cyclists need reassurance. And 2) light at 3rd and College is going to be negatively impacted and timing or something needs to be looked at there. The east/west greenway I was hoping was going to be getting ENHANCEMENTS in the next year or two, not becoming a motorist highway :( Thank you.

Biking & Walking

I apologize..I'm not sure I picked the right category. I would like to request a crosswalk at 11th and Walnut..across walnut. The bus stops there and let's large groups of students off that then cross, going west. After dark, I'm worried someone will get hit especially. Thanks in advance. Susan Hingle

Traffic Suggestions

320 W 8th ST

Case Date:
10/4/2019

If you're going to eliminate the left turn lanes on the westbound entrance to the Winslow/Walnut and eastbound entrance to the Winslow intersection until DECEMBER, then turn off the left turn green light! Just keep it red until the solid green turns on. Right now it's pointless. If the first car is going straight, then nobody can turn left anyway and those that want to turn left get angry that nobody is turning left! Additionally, I've seen people just start going straight when that left arrow turns on since it's a "green light" in their lane. So, you're just making it more confusing and difficult by keeping the left turn light as an option. Finally, it would have been great if you could have waited until Gordon Pike was open before putting another traffic impediment in on the south side. The traffic backups are terrible during peak hours.

Union needs left turn signals at 10th. Step it up. Only in Bloomington are traffic backups sought. Multiprong transportation can work. I'm not voting for a late expansion or speed enhancement, simply reasonable slow flow on 10th

Street & Traffic Signs

1101 N Illinois ST

Case Date:
7/16/2019

We patrol Crestmont area often and find many kids out playing on the side walks and street. There is also a lot of speeding traffic through there. We are requesting signs be put up, especially around the area that the new park is being built. Signs saying to slow down, children at play. We would like signs in several places in Crestmont, as there are many kids everywhere, if possible.
