I sent this on February 20th, and haven't heard from anyone.  Previous case: #166355 We are writing to you again because of two more accidents at this same corner (14th Street and Walnut Street).  Danna Workman was assigned to this on October 13, 2018, then she assigned it to Adam Wason, who then assigned it to Terri Porter; however, we have been reporting this problem corner to the City for many years.  On February 5, 2018 we heard from Andrew Cibor, Transportation and Traffic Engineer, who encouraged us to submit comments via a mapping tool.  We submitted our comments on February 6, 2018, but as of yet have heard nothing. On December 20, 2018 we wrote to you asking for a few traffic signs from 2nd Street to 17th Street on the Walnut corridor, but nothing has been done, and we have not received a response. One of the last accidents hit our landscaped flower bed and took out our irrigation as well as our treated landscape wood to hold in the mulch and flowers.  We had to replace the landscape wood, but will have to wait until Spring to replace the irrigation system there. The other recent accident (February 16, 2019) took out another irrigation head, but worst yet, it took down the very large City street light with a light attached to it for our parking lot, which we pay Duke Energy for every month. You have told us in years past that you are not seeing that many accidents reported to the City; however, if only one car is involved or even two, many times it goes unreported, and they fix their cars themselves, but our damage is left for us to repair. Last year, you did install white posts on the west side of Walnut along with pedestrian lines on the street.  However, that has done nothing to slow the traffic or stop accidents.  I saw two young people on scooters yesterday trying to cross at that corner, and I was concerned for their safety, as the cars were speeding by without stopping for the pedestrians. It was reported in the newspaper this morning that Mayor Hamilton is spending quite a lot of money to assess the trees in Bloomington.  And, while that maybe needed, I feel the safety of the residents of Bloomington and their guests is needed more. Left turn arrow for 7th onto college does not work. Waited two green light cycles and never got a green arrow.

I work for IU Campus Bus Service. Saturday, we were driving a special service that necessitated that we use the new portion of Woodlawn Avenue. (Once the railroad crossing is complete, buses will go up and down Woodlawn Avenue from the Stadium to Campus and back about 70 times a day during the week.) I noticed that a vehicle was parked on Woodlawn just north of 14th St. on the east side of the street blocking the bike lane, but mostly out of the lane of car traffic. I also noticed there are no "No Parking" signs on this new stretch of Woodlawn. Can those be added to prevent people from parking here? Thank you.

I would like to request that a turn signal be added to the traffic lights at the 3rd Street and Woodscrest intersection for drivers on 3rd Street coming from the East who wish to turn South onto Woodscrest. There is already a turn signal on Woodscrest for drivers who are driving North and turn West onto 3rd Street, and that turn signal is extremely helpful. However, there is no turn signal on 3rd Street for people who wish to turn left onto Woodscrest after coming from the East, and as a result, the turn is very difficult and often even unsafe to make. Often times, drivers never have a chance to make a left turn while the light is green due to the often high traffic on 3rd street, and so the drivers are able to turn only when the light turns yellow. Adding a turn signal there would undoubtedly increase the safety for everyone at that intersection. Many of the other intersections on 3rd Street have traffic lights with left turn signals, even for both the East and West directions, and I don't think that the 3rd Street and Woodscrest intersection should continue to lack a turn signal for drivers turning left onto Woodscrest. There needs to be a pedistrian crossing at the corner of Union and 5th. It is often dangerous to cross there.

The intersection of Smith road and 10th Street has heavy traffic, especially in the morning and during the rush hour. The fact that there is university elementary school nearby the intersection makes the traffic heavier at times. However, the intersection is controlled only by one way stop sign. The fact that around the intersection the road on the 10th Street curves makes the traffic coming from Smith road challenging to turn on the 10th street. I strongly recommend putting traffic lights on that intersection to avoid accidents and relax the traffic around the intersection.

Is there a way to level Allen St from the stop sign back about 50 feet at the Bloomfield Rd intersection? The slope causes accidents and near accidents. We've had 3 cars in our yard since we've been there. We've had to fix up the chain link fence best we could. In 2 situations, our gas meter was hit, which is a serious hazard. Alternatively, could Bloomfield Rd be made inaccessible from Allen St (either a one way or block it off)? Thank you for reading this. Sincerely, Theo

If you're going to eliminate the left turn lanes on the westbound entrance to the Winslow/Walnut and eastbound entrance to the Winslow intersection until DECEMBER, then turn off the left turn green light! Just keep it red until the solid green turns on. Right now it's pointless. If the first car is going straight, then nobody can turn left anyway and those that want to turn left get angry that nobody is turning left! Additionally, I've seen people just start going straight when that left arrow turns on since it's a "green light" in their lane. So, you're just making it more confusing and difficult by keeping the left turn light as an option. Finally, it would have been great if you could have waited until Gordon Pike was open before putting another traffic impediment in on the south side. The traffic backups are terrible during peak hours.
